Just found out the long time radio and record industry pro Robbie Voght has died. I don't have any details. Please post if you know anything about this. I knew Robbie for many, many years dating back as far as Wilmington AM radio in the 70's. And then through the record years when he was with RCA and I was with MCA. (I was always a little nervous about going on the road with him!) He was one of the Biggest hearted guys in the Biz. :(

Hit that one on the head. Although physically imposing, Robbie was a HUGE hearted, funny as hell guy who just happened to have one of the biggest ****ing record collections I've ever seen. With all the things that change in radio and records these days, the landscape without Robbie will be a barren one.

Stanley "B" Refresh my memory. What years was Robbie in Wilmington and was he at 1340 WGNI when I worked there with you and Jay and the gang. I was just in Wilmington as my mom passed away and I did not have time to call you. Hope all is going well for ya! Your bud in Atlanta.

Oh no! That is sad news. I was proud to work with him when I was PD at WAZZ Oldies 96.5 in the early 90s. He was our beach music guy. He went by Dr. Feelgood on the air and I had to keep my ears on him or he'd spin "Brick House"- a great guy who was always happy to see you.

He will be missed.

Dave

Hey there AMLOVER.... Robbie was PD at 1340, I want to say mid 70's...Sorry to here about your mom...I will callyou...

Robbie worked at GNI 1340AM in the early to mid-70s. Of course, beach music was his love. Robbie and I were once married to sisters - boy was that a long time ago! He was a really big guy - always drive old limos - even bought an old hurse once! I haven't seen him in quite a while, but often heard of his beach music successes from my friend Charlie Brown. The world will miss the big hearted guy!

Hey guys! I just did some research and found out that Robbie died on October 2nd of a heart attack. It was on a "beach music" website. Under the name of "Dr Feelgood" Robbie had evidently become quite a "player" in the Beach Music world. I have known Robbie for over 25 years, going back to the days when I worked in a record store and Robbie had his Oldie show on WGNI-AM. HE would come by the store and would to play a game where we would play one note of a song and you had to identify the song. Let me tell you, nobody ever stumped Robbie! As a record rep, what can you say- He was a legend!..You had to get plenty of sleep before Robbie came to town, cause it was going to be a wild night! Last time I saw him was about two years ago. So sad to lose him. A great guy all around.
