SAG & AFTRA To Merge

The announcement just came down a few minutes ago. SAG and AFTRA members have voted to merge. A friend in AFTRA says her dues will go up as soon as the actual merger takes place. I know that the union is only in the larger and major markets, other than dues, what else will change for the air talent?

Millionaire actors will pay less...everyone else will pay more...especially the great majority of SAG actors who haven't worked in years, they'll pay much more at least percentage wise. It's asinine that dues cap out at 500k in earnings.

Wow, just like income taxes, the rich pay less and the middle and poor pay the most...

There may be some positives as well. I just think it's funny the 80 percent of SAG would approve and by their own number something like 90+ percent of SAG members haven't worked in over 3 years. Just seems like this run more like a fan club then a union.
