Sage Endec Handheld Remote

Just a quick tech tip about the Sage Endec RC-1 handheld remote control.

I searched high and low, in every manual I could find to get the "Key" values to program macros into the handheld remote. I know this is probably a vague issue to most because not many use the remote control, and even fewer send outgoing alerts that aren't weekly or monthly tests. But at our station we have to generate Amber alerts and things like that. The remote control has 9 unassigned buttons that you can program with a pre-made alert. In the EndecSetD software, under the Outgoing Headers tab, you can assign each header a Key value for the remote control. - But nowhere are the key values listed. -

Are they numbers?
Are they letters?
Are they in any particular order?
Here is what I found, in case anybody else ever needs to set one of these things up.

They are laid out with lower case letters like this:
a b c d
e f g h
i j k l
m n o p
q r s t
x u v x
The x's mean the button has no key value.

If you hit the SHIFT key first, then you can assign a second macro to each button and the key value would be the UPPER CASE version of each letter.

I like the Sage EAS, but the manual is not very useful.
It's like the manual was designed to ensure long term job security for the support folks :(
