Saints in SA

If the Saints play their home games in SA this year, will one of the local stations pick up all of their games?

So far, the NFL is trying to prevent that from happening, or so I've heard. I've been told the Saints will play their first home game at the Meadowlands in NJ this year. However, that's not going to last forever, and there's a good possibility New Orleans will not be a major city that would be able to support a professional sports team if it's even rebuilt again. Keep in mind that there are no jobs there, and there won't be for quite some time. Most of those evacuated will have no choice but to find jobs elsewhere. I'm sure some people will return out of principle or for family reason, but I suspect many, if not most, will just keep the jobs they have, the houses they've bought, etc. in their new locations. If this goes on too long, the Saints will have to find a new home, and they will get a new flagship affiliate.

There are two power house 50KW AM stations in SA without a major football contract. One of them is country but has run Aggie games for a number of years. The other is News/Talk that used to run Cowboys until Jerry Jones got greedy. If it comes down to KKYX or WOAI I would have to go with OAI. KTSA has the COwboys and The Ticket has the Texans. I don't see KLUP or KAHL or even KONO picking them up.

I'll tell you this though, if the Saints do play all or part of their home games here it will give San Antonio the chance to show the NFL that we can support an NFL team. I for one will be at every single game, whether or not they are on local radio and TV.

> My pick would be favorite radio station here in the alamo ciy, 99-5 KISS-FM. Football and REAL Rock and Roll goes well. I'm so glad KISS-FM isn't runned by CC. Another station that would call the Saints home is K-Rock 102.7, As far as the games on TV, It will probably be shown on Channel 5, KEN'S-TV. K-Rock will utilize the voices of Saints radio, And the longtime PA Voice of the Superdome, Chuck Demarest will be utilized as well over at either The Alamodome or Tiger Stadium. The State of Texas HAS a big heart when it comes to caring, AND it WILL support ALL 3 teams here.

Since the Saints are in the NFC, FOX would have most of the games, not CBS. And there would be plenty of unhappy Cowboys fans if Dallas games got blown out for the Saints.

If San Antonio was an NFL market with an NFC team, it would make Austin a peripheral market for the games on FOX, blowing out the Cowboys. Hmmmm.

The Saints will probably wind up at LSU's stadium in Baton Rouge, assuming scheduling issues can be worked out.

Good catch. If San Antonio NFL fans were aware of that, I bet there would be an anti-Saints to San Antonio uprising, fomented by Cowboys fans.

OTOH, if the Saints games here in SA weren't sellouts, they'd be blacked out locally (and on satellite) anyway.

> I don't think so. Tiger Stadium(LSU's Home) is still under construction, with more seats added to the north end. They also plan to build a widescreen scoreboard on the south end. This isn't a good time to play there. The Alamodome sounds like a good venue to call home for the time being. After what I saw on Oprah today, The Superdome is NOW a Super Dump. it does'nt look good, It WILL be demolished. As far as Tulane (The Superdome's other tennant), They might end up sharing home with LSU in Baton Rouge. The Sugar Bowl MIGHT be played over at Reliant Stadium in Houston.

I am sure Cox will find a way to ruin it though since CC does not own it and can't directly affect it.

I would think WOAI might would go in the running of broadcasting the games, since they dont broadcast the cowboys now KTSA is, with Ticket 760 on the Texans.<P ID="signature">______________

Here in the Dallas-Fort Worth market, most of Cowboys regular season games are on FOX, and all of their pre-season games are on thier home network stations: KTVT-TV CBS 11 and KLUV-FM 98.7 (both are Infinity Broadcasting owned).

I kinda agree on having the Saints games at LSU's stadium, because in broadcast for both San Antonio and Austin, If the Saints games were to be on after the Cowboys' play, what if the Cowboys were to be on overtime? Does this mean we have to miss the beginning part of the Saints' play?

True. Because I checked the TV Guide: FOX carries another NFC games like Chicago Bears, right before they get to the Cowboys. So, it could be possible that the Saints playing in San Antonio at a middle of Sunday (noon).

Speaking of the Cowboys, what do you think of them winning thier first season yesterday 28-24. I was impressed in the almost end of fourth quarter when San Diego were at a 8 yard line, 4th and 10, about to score a touchdown, but all of the sudden, it was intercepted with the Cowboys.
