As you've probably heard, the New Orleans Saints will play three "home" games in San Antonio.
If the NFL follows its usual TV market rules, San Antonio would be a designated home market, and Austin would become a peripheral market. Under the usual rules, both markets would be required to carry the Saints games, should they be sellouts.
The first game is on October 2, with Buffalo coming to town. The game is scheduled for Noon, and would be on CBS. That would mean the Houston Texans game at the same time on CBS (at Cincinnati) would be knocked off KENS and KEYE.
Okay, I'll admit the Texans following is so-so. But what's more interesting:
For the October 16 game, Atlanta visits NO/SA at Noon on FOX. This is opposite the Giants at Cowboys game, also on FOX at the same time.
Same deal on December 24. Detroit comes in for a Noon game on FOX, opposite the Cowboys at Carolina, also a FOX game.
Might be more than a few irritated Cowboys fans in Central and South Texas, should they get blown off KABB and KTBC.
However, the game times, and even dates may be switched from the original slots. Will be interesting to see how TV coverage in that case would be handled.
