I am going to entertain your post even though I don't think you know anything and are just guessing.

Moffit Owns 2 AMs

- WTLN 950
- WHIM 1520

For the FM (which is not suprising, considering how great Z88.3 has been)possibly

- WNUE 98.1 (rumored earlier this year, not the best signal)

or

- WPCV 97.5

No way on 97.5; Hall's not going to sell one of the biggest FM's they own (not to mention one of the BEST-sounding, live and local FM's)...

Unless it's a 'for all the Salem properties in a swap plus cash for WPCV' kind of move.

Yeah, but really how much money is being #1 in the Lakeland market worth, when nearly 40 stations from the Tampa and Orlando marketsshow in the Lakeland ratings?

Salem would likely pay good bucks for a big signal that reaches both markets.<P ID="signature">______________

Everything has a price. While it is unlikely that Hall would part with WPCV it is certainly more likely than Clear Channel, Infinity or Cox letting go of one of their Orlando signals.

Salem recently paid 10 million for an FM in Omaha (market 72) and several years ago (2002 i believe) paid 35.8 million for a a C2 in Portland, Oregon (market 24). It would not be out of the question to guess a budget of around 30 million dollars.

Besides the two FMs already mentioned the only other FM that is even a possibility is WLOQ. I know nothing about this station, would anyone like to provide a little color?

I would not think that Salem would have really made a move into Orlando unless they had plans in the works to acquire other signals. The market does not need a Christian AC station because of Z88.3 has that market nicely covered. I would expect at least one more AM to join 660am in order to offer Salem's top 2 formats in the town Mickey Mouse built.

WLOQ & Salem

Below on this board it is stated WLOQ has an Ownership sale posted on the fcc.gov site (part of that post and the url is below). I have heard funny things are going on there (WLOQ)...people are nervous. I have also heard that a former WLOQ person...Bob Stephenson who works in Phoenix for Salem as PD might be coming back to The City Beautiful to program!

Wonder is Salem could be goobling up Genesis.

I'd really hate to lose WLOQ to any of the formats that Salem carries. While some may argue that WLOQ isn't really "smooth jazz" it is certainly a nice alternative to have.

Re: WLOQ & Salem

If a deal was cut by in the middle of June, i am a little puzzled as to why nothing has been announced or leaked. Salem isn't exactly great at keep secrets.

If it is true that Salem has acquired WLOQ the sale should be closing within the next 30 days and we should be hearing 103.1 The Fish shortly there after.

Re: WLOQ Cleaning House

Perhaps there is something going on...for I am told, on Friday, the Program Director of WLOQ spent hours cleaning the on-air studio and the two production studios...on his hands and knees scrubbing the floors and cleaning all the countertops. What program director is going to do that...unless there is something BIG happening?

Yeah...when I worked there, the owner's wife did all that---while I was on the air.
