Richmond is all the better. They own at least 3 stations in Tampa, but at least no FM's yet.

Salem indirectly has WLES/580 (Chesapeake-Portsmouth Broadcasting Corp) which was granted a move to Bon Air from Lawrenceville...

Salem better get new calls. WLES can bring back memories of Les Nesman and WKRP or LES which might make people think its all "Ellen" all the time. Personally I would prefer Les Nesman to ANYTHING the braintrust at Salem could think up. I live in an area with 3 Salem stations and they broadcast nothing but nonsense.

I agree that 1380 had minimal impact on the area during its tenure with Salem, but a "Fish" format Christian AC station in town would have really, really been welcome.

I'm happy with the new 90.5, but so far the signal doesn't seem quite as strong as it was in the 90 Joy days. But I'm giving it time, and am happy to have them around, since Richmond has had no true CCM outlet since 'DYL died in '99.

By the way, I wonder what the "nonsense" is on the Salem stations? That's a pretty wide definition.

I define nonsense as any attempt to promote any religion as the one true religion and any political opinion right of Bill Maher.

Figures.....

....FYI, the new station for EMC (the former owners of 90Joy) was coming in Saturday PM in Ashland, and 90.5 was booming. I'll be interested to see if/how they attempt to market themselves.

We can only wish we were all so lucky.
