Salem Media Group

Apparently the publishing imprints they have sold were not profitable anyway, so really this was a way for them to have a smaller stronger company.
Would be interesting to know how the radio side in doing financially in say Chicago though...where they have two AM's (Talk on WIND and Christian programming on WYLL.)

Crazy. Salem’s decline has been fast.
Not sure I'd agree with that. Salem has had cash problems for a while, and has had numerous asset sales in the last 5 years to help buoy the company. Receiving millions in PPP funds from the government in 2020 helped too.

Does Salem make much from their syndicated programming outside of their own stations? I have come across very few non-Salem stations running most of their syndicated programming, unlike Westwood One and Premiere’s offerings.
They claim $15.3 million in "network" revenue through Sept 30th, i.e. national broadcast advertising.

That would include their syndicated programs aired on their own stations, plus the third party stations that air Salem talk programs, plus SRN News and Townhall newscasts and other short-form programs. Additionally, there are Salem music programs, including a 24/7 format.

There are a bunch of third party stations taking their programs owned by the Delmarva Educational Association (owned by Nancy Epperson) and Truth Broadcasting (owned by Stuart Epperson Jr.). These are quasi-independent broadcasting companies, which happen to be owned by the heirs of now-deceased Salem founder Stuart Epperson Sr.
