SALEM RADIO

I know that some people who work for Salem Radio hang out here. I hear talk that Salem wants to start an all news radio network. Can anyone comment on that?

Old Chicago

There has been talk about that possibility for years. It would certainly be expensive. However, it doesn't mean that wouldn't make the attempt.

I suspect any such effort from Salem would be along the lines of Fox News with a pronounced conservative Christian perspective.

Keep in mind Salem is a company, not a ministry. They were pretty wise in setting up their Christian format. If they could pull the same formula off on news, they might really have something. I've never worked for Salem but had a friend in Dallas that did.

Great. Yet another boring talk format taking up frequencies that could be used for music. When the last music format goes off the air, radio is done for.

Another? It's been here in Houston, since December 2004. The Salem Newstalk stations are on the AM band. there are a couple that simulcast on FM.

SRN News is neutral. However, the Salem Talk hosts are conservative. There was a comment about news from a Christian perspective. Let's look at that:

Bill Bennett-Catholic
Mike Gallagher-Protestant
Dennis Prager-Jew
Michael Medved-Jew
Hugh Hewitt-Catholic

As I said in a previous post, "It would certainly be expensive" as Gabigley1 reiterated.

Personally, I doubt that it will happen.

Salem is more than just Christian teaching formats. It also has Business formats as well, in addition to the Christian music formats like our sister station in Dallas, KLTY.

Salem owns AM 930 KLUP out in Terrell Hills San Antonio, TX. which airs a Conservative talk format.
They have been on the air since 2004, I believe. They have a couple of AM radio stations in Houston as Chuck previously mentioned.
