Salem Rolls out more Bussiness Talk

Salem has added a Bussiness Talker in Sacramento on 105.5 which was previously Spanish Christian, and before that a simulcast of KTKZ 1380. It has the same line-up as KDOW and KKOL with a local morning show. It should also be mentioned that 105.5 serves Sacramento with a rimshot signal. Anyone think it'll work?

Yes, It's in Dunnigan, which it off I-5 about 10 miles from the I-505 junction. Its in Yolo Country on the border near Colusa County. The only other rimshot in the area is EMF's KARA, which tries to serve Sacto (And does an Okay job of it) from all the way bay in Williams (about 50 to 60 miles from Sacto) I think 105.5 has to have a spoken word format if they want to serve Sacramento because music would sound like crap.

Salem manages to make profits on relatively low rated content. I would prefer that they bring MoneyTalk (Bob Brinker)into the fold, particularly in Detroit where WJR dropped it as opposed to generating all new content. This would certianly be a nice weekend addition to their political talkers. The time may be ripe for such a format to take root.

I still think the key here is that they can sell brokered programming under the "business format" model. That local morning guy is probably paying for the show.

Business radio has been a continuous failure for its entire existence. One market I know of has had five stations try it. All eventually changed formats. Getting stock market news on the radio is an anachronism in the internet age. The only point of the format is brokering.
