salsa-97/5 fm

in ,around and in the where-abouts of niagara falls, there
is 97.5 FM, and it is annoying...i know the un-written rule,
about pirate-stations, (shhhhhh) on these boards, because
"supposedly" 'big brother' (the FCC,not the show) reads them too....
but, this one is just awful !! does any one have any info - or
a way for them, to at least play better music ~!? lol.

97.5 fm, discovered them this weekend...niagara falls usa, area.

Doubt it's being heard much outside its own neighborhood. I was up in the Buffalo/Niagara Falls area on Saturday and on a good, sensitive car FM tuner all you could hear between 97 Rock and Kiss on the FM band were three Canadian full Class B flamethrowers, two from the CN Tower in Toronto and one from St. Catharines (CJEZ 97.3, CHTZ 97.7 and CHFI 98.1). Once in a while a weak signal from WPXY in Rochester (97.9) sneaked in for a minute or two. I doubt the FCC district office in Buffalo can even hear these Salsa 97.5 guys, whoever they may be.

i was listening to 97.7/htz-fm, and just happen to hit "manual" instead of scan,
and then my car was scanning and it stopped....as if "97.5fm" had enough signal strenght,

The sheer ignorance, or just plain stupidity, of most pirate radio operators amazes me. While I do not condone the operation of a radio station without a license, one would think that they would do a better frequency search to find an "open" channel for their broadcasts, and not one that is first adjacent to a local powerhouse.

i will be agreement: i don't condone, the illegal operation either, but
also feel iF u are going to do it, at least do it right!

....why broadcast some thing that doesnt fit for this area.
( yes, it was a ?friday nite) so, "party-music" doesn't
sound, too out of the ordinary, but at least, play some thing that
will not arouse suspicion...not just "music" that shouts at ya, or is a steady beat....
esp. for an extended period of time, without any dj's/voice-overs, commercials, etc...

Not too many years back, just a little east of Rochester, a guy was running a pirate station out of his house in Perinton(several miles to the north of Canandaigua, just off the Thruway). He was running Oldies -- on 92.1. He had a built in audience this way. Oldies listeners go there all the time - that's the frequency of WSEN in Syracuse, an Oldies station. He was on the air for a few months before the FCC finally closed him down. Then a couple years later I heard him doing the exact same thing, again on 92.1. If you wanted to hear the more professional sounding WSEN, you were out of luck. Again, if you're going to be a pirate, at least don't interfere with a licensed station.

BTW, anyone here who's familiar with the Rochester/Finger Lakes radio scene know what ever happened to this Perinton guy?
