Salt and Dimitri gone

This morning, Friday, June 10th, was the final broadcast of the Salt and Demetri the Greek show on 96rock. For the past six years, Salt and D have worked hard to bring you their take on the news of the day and have been terrific ambassadors to the community. This was a very difficult decision and one that we don’t take lightly. We know a lot of you are going to miss Salt and Demetri but like everything else, sometimes difficult decisions have to be made, and this was one of them.
On Monday, June 13th, Bob The Blade will take over on 96rock Mornings. For 27 years, from "The Night Flight" on WRDU to the "Foster & Blade" afternoon show, Blade has delivered his unique brand of rock radio – and now you’ll get it from 6a-10a each morning. That means more rock than ever before and plenty of Blade’s take on things going on in and around the Triangle.

Alli Morgan will move to 10am-3pm, though the Commercial-Free 96@9:06 will still kick off the workday. Foster will remain on the drive home, from 3p-7p. From concert coverage and ticket giveaways to music reviews and more, it will be a show for all who love rock to enjoy. Adam-12 finishes off the day keeping you plugged in with lots of rock, contests, and music news from 7p-11p.

As always, I appreciate your support of 96rock and hope you like the changes.

96rock General Manager

Does anybody know if theres a reason other than just low ratings? Did they ever have decent ratings? Not trying to sound like a ******, I just know their ratings have been down for a while.

The management at CMG are ruining this station. Isnt this how 'RDU's downfall started with the firing of Reynolds And Silva? I always thought 96Rock would outlast 'RDU years wise (22 Years) but after the changes to music and now this, I will be surprised if they make 20 years.

Salt & Demetri have always had decent ratings relative to the rest of the station.
Could be a budget thing. A duo in both AM & PM seems like a luxury.

To me, as an occasional listener, that is one crazy Whitman Sampler of a playlist on 96 Rock??!!

WPTF will likely need an FM presence at some point in the near future, since most of their spoken-word format competitors are already there (Rush Radio 106-1, North Carolina Public Radio-WUNC and even 99.9 the Fan), not to mention demographically as the lower end of 35-54 includes more and more who didn't grow up with and won't listen to AM radio. I don't know if that will happen on 96.1, though. However they do it, I'm almost certain there would be a 680 simulcast and not a complete move to FM (similar to how Cox did on Atlanta with WSB or Jacksonville with WOKV).

He has a big following among Christians. He uses the mask of "being a good steward" to push his agenda. I'm not knocking Christianity, as I am one, but I can see through what he is saying. I know others who don't (or can't).

I am a Christian too but it is the most repetitive radio. Even with political talk atleast there is some guests and interviews. It's the same thing everyday.

Also I have to just laugh when these poor people call him say they've got 4 kids, they're unemployed, and they happen to come accross with some cash and he's telling them make sure you give 15% to your church.

What is he really saying, in your opinion?

having programmed talk where I carried Dave's show I can attest that his show does very well. Especially in an economy like the one we have now where ppl are looking at ways to decrease debt and become smarter at saving/investing. My wife and I went thru Financial Peace Univ (FPU).. moreso b/c it was free since the station carried the show (in reality it only costs $100). Found it to be basic common sense... which most ppl don't use. And there was some additional info I found interesting. Aside from our home we were debt free in two years. It works if you work the plan.

How I see things: Dave Ramsey and Clark Howard are both financial talk show hosts. I leave Clark's show having gained knowledge that I can use. I leave Dave's show wondering why anyone would call subject themselves to his verbal abuse and ridiculous suggestions.

My girlfriend and I were invited to attend one of the classes of FPU for free, and we went. Anyone who paid for that should have saved their $95 and used common sense in their everyday life.

How the hell is Dave Ramsey successful? Outside of Nashville who wants to listen to this guy????

Ramsey is successful not through his radio show, but because of it. He makes his coin selling his "get outta debt" service. The reason Don Curtis and Phil Zachary are in bed with them is that Ramsey paid a pretty penny to be on in both Raleigh and Greensboro (Winston-Salem). Simply put, Curtis sacrificed content for cash. In hindsight, after losing both of their juggernaut syndicated shows, perhaps they'd rather be airing some sort of compelling local programming rather than the useless drivel Ramsey subjects his audience to everyday. But hey, he's selling lots of books though, right?

Whether Ramsey paid to be on WPTF (I find it hard to believe unless early on in syndication) fact is the show does get numbers. Difference between Dave and Clark ( I carried both shows), Dave is a debt counselor and puts you on the path to becoming debt free using common sense in some instances and in others financial advice that is not common. Clark, a consumer advocate

Ramsey has been a self made millionaire, twice. Lost it all then got it back using the principles he preaches (no pun intended). (Clark did it at 34).
