WPRO TV 12? Did WPRI used to be WPRO? And how come Holland hasn't bid on this yet?

I actually think it was WPRO Channel 12 when they first signed on. The switch to WPRI was probably in the 1950's or 60's.

You didn't read the recap properly

WPRO-TV was then sold to Poole Broadcasting (owners of WJRT-TV in Flint) on June 16, 1967. This sale was necessary because Capital Cities Communications had bought KTRK-TV in Houston, which left it one VHF station over the FCC's ownership limit of the time. Poole Broadcasting then changed WPRO-TV's call letters to the present WPRI-TV.
