sam broadcaster vs. stationplaylist...go

Hi I am trying to decide which one to go with...I have used automation before (scott studios and selector) I am just looking for your opinions so I can get off this fence i'm sitting on. any help will be much apreciated.
thanks.

I looked at the free sample versions of several products before I jumped. Station Playlist won my comparo, and I've been a happy customer for 2 years. No problems. It just chugs away. No scripts to learn!

Don

So why not try them yourself. Both SAM and SPL are available as demo's. They have their strengths and weaknesses and it depends on what you are trying to achieve. I can neither read your mind nor do I wish to so I have no idea of what you're trying to achieve to the end user.

I have run my own station using both and right now I'm using SPL and more than happy.

Question:

So the StationPlaylist product provides you with your automation system software AND music scheduling program?

Does the Studio365 do that (if you happen to know)?

Thanks for your input.

You can purchase the bundle which includes both the playback software (Studio) and the music schedule (Creator) or you can purchase each module separate. If you had a compatible scheduler application you could just purchase Studio. You're probably better off purchasing the bundle (I would opt for the Pro bundle as it has the most features).

Did you read the review I noted above? Some of your questions may be answered by the review.

It depends on what you need and want.

Me, personally, Id learn towards SAM Broadcaster..... I want to use it for a hobby webstream, however I have prior expierience with it.. ahving used it at a small town AM Daytimer..

It has everything I need in it, built in SHOUTcast DSP, etc...

I've been using the professional version of StationPlaylist (includes Creator and Studio) since 2005 and I love it. The latest version of it is much improved over the version I started with and is well worth the money I paid for it. It comes with a full year of updates and you have the option after the first year to subscribe to maintenance updates for a small fee which keeps you up to date with the latest release.

The developers are very responsive to suggested features, if several broadcasters indicate they would like that suggested feature. They also have a support forum where you can get help from other users and the creators of StationPlaylist. The software is even friendly to those who may be visually impared.

I have Sam Broadcaster but have had to use purely Winamp because Sam takes up like 80% of my CPU and crashes frequently. Maybe my PC i dunno I have a 2.4 GHz machine with 512MB ram. Never heard of StationPlaylist but then again i'm pretty much learning as I go

I've used SAM Broadcaster since 2005 and SAM Party DJ since 2003.

It the few years I've used it, I have hardly any trouble.

But then again, I've always used SAM on machines that were more than enough to run it and a lot of other things at the same time. Never a problem. On a previous version, I did have a problem with it freezing up frequently on cuts ripped using Vorbis, which were numerous. It was after that, and investing in a larger hard drive, that I stopped ripping into lossy codecs completely. The newest version released fixes a few issues.

The most current version plays nice on my AMD X2 6000 machine with 2GB of RAM. Using it now on this machine.

I did purchase a Dell for the purpose of getting SAM off of my video machine where I need the AMD dual-core and the RAM. It's one of those GX260s with an Intel 2.00P4 with 512GB of RAM. It did well as could be expected for an Intel machine. I couldn't use any DSPs or the included multiband. I usually run lean machines so, it was kind of interesting to see it stumble as much as it did compared to my dirt old AMD 1600 XP+ with 256MB RAM.

SAM has it's issues, but if you know what you're doing and are willing to learn, it's a good product.

I've can't tell you if StationPlaylist is any better or worse. I've never had time to try it.

Stationplaylist is great..Here it in action at musiconradio.com
