Sam Champion and Gower Champion: Related

Wonder if Sam Champion, the WABC-TV weatherman is related to the famous choreographer, the late Gower Champion and his former wife, Marge Champion.
Together, Marge and Gower Champion made many musicals together in the 40's and 50's and Gower had just produced the revival of 42'd Street when he died on opening night in 1982.

Anyway, are they Sam Champion's parents?
 
Sam has mentioned his parents live in Florida. He grew up in Kentucky or Tennessee. Marge and Gower had been New Yorkers since the 1940s.
