Sam Chu Lin

I haven't seen this posted here on the Phoenix message board yet. Veteran television news anchor and reporter Sam Chu Lin died around March 8th. He became ill after getting off of a flight from Phoenix to Burbank, and was pronounced dead at a hospital. He was 67 years old. Those of us who are long time Phoenix residents may remember that Sam worked as an anchor at Channel 10, which was then KOOL-TV, in the late 1960's.

I saw the AP dispatch on Mr. Lin and am also surprised it wasn't mentioned here.
A life long Arizona resident, I remember my dad watching Bill and Dave on Channel 10 (he was a true KOOL News watcher), so I should have some recollection of Mr. Lin's reporting.

I remember Dave Daughtry (sp?)
I remember Bob Hughes from KPNX "Action News". What ever happened to him?
I worked at "Lulu Belles" in Scottsdale as a busboy and the owner threw a media party. All of the anchors showed up. They stayed with their respective tables (I thought as odd...I didn't work the business then). Mr Hughes came across as a big guy.

With all due respect, I have no recollection to Mr. Lin.

May he rest in peace.

Bob Hughes

Hughes was anchoring at WSBT-TV South Bend IN in the late '70s and was a CBN news anchor for Pat Robertson in the early '80s. Don't know what he's doing nowadays or even if he's still around.

Didn't Sam Chu Lin precede Kent Dana in the
weekend anchor slot at KOOL-TV?

Do you mean Joe Dougherty, KOOL weatherman
circa late 70s/early 80s?

I stand corrected. I did mean Joe Dougherty
Dave Daughtry was an anchor in Mobile.
