Sam Memolo Returns to Air !!

While listening to 920 this morning, I discovered a voice that hasnt been on the air at least in the Atlanta Market in a while. Sam Memolo formerly of the Car Show on WGST has returned to the airwaves. He's a great car repair guy that has been sorely missed. Maybe 920 is trying to go more local? I think it would be nice to see WGKA try for a more local approach to thier talk lineup. With thier great signal they could actually be some competion to WGST. But then, WGST isnt really much of a player anymore. Lets hope for more of the lost hosts on WGST to reappear on WGKA. Sam by the way is on from 11:00 am til 12:00 noon. Welcome back SAM !!

Didn't his Car Show partner, Dave, pass away a few years ago?

:) I caught the first part of the show too! Sam's Garage is what he is calling it. I was listening to Bob and Rodman then on comes Sam...what a pleasant surprise. Another WGST Cast off Lands!

WGKA is a ship that has sunk to the bottom of the sea. Anything they do will be an seen as improvement. The station has a decent signal. They subscribe to Arbitron, yet they do absolutely nothing to attract an audience. What a waste of a what could be a good radio station. They are not even worth talking about.

Actually, that sounds more like WGST to me. Well, except for that part about a "decent signal" (at night).
Is WGST still even on the air?

;D

Dave McBride, who co-hosted The Car Show on WGST with Sam Memmolo, passed away Wednesday (4/18/2007) after a battle with cancer. He was 59. In addition to The Car Show, Dave also co-hosted with Sam the nationally syndicated Sam's Garage radio program and Two Guys Garage on Speed TV.

The Car Show was dropped from WGST last October when Bloomquist decided a taped-delay gardening show was better programming.

Say what you want about the sad state of radio in Atlanta, but The Car Show was a good listen on Saturday mornings.

I think not only are they worth talking about, but soon if they keep up at this rate, WE WILL be talking about them. This station has a much better signal than WGST, and it could be a incredible talk station. Provided that they start on a more focused approach to bringing in some local talent. I like Bennett mornings, and Ingram, and the middays, but Micheal Medved makes me really ill.

Conserative talk radio makes me ill.

Liberal talk radio makes me ill. But I use one of the knobs/buttons on my radio to select a station more to my liking.

Sam's garage is a syndicated show that has been on air for quite sometime. It's been on WLBB 1330 AM for atleast 5 months or so.

Nothing wrong with GKA, I would much rather listen to those guys than Dave Ramsey or Clark Howard.. how much whining stupidity can you take? Bennetts show is very good, he is learning radio slowly, but steadily. Medved is an acquired taste, but as long as he isn't going off on his religion its ok with me. Hugh Hewitt... another good show. I just wish he would get off his high horse about the Fairtax. Sam will be a good addition to their weekend programing. I enjoyed the tv show when it was on too, but they didn't have enough time to show a lot of the little things that made a job happen.. kinda like Norm Abrams.. the guy builds antique quality furniture in 40 minutes.. yeah right!

This was a live show. I am aware for yrs that he syndicated a show called Sams Garage.
But this is a one hour live show broadcast from GKA's studios.

Sam and Dave were a great team with a very informative show. Dave will be missed. Sam's show actually helps people, and is a nice alternative to the two man comedy routine that masquerades as a Car Show...Click and Clack.
