Same song, different version, same station

Curious - KGBY (Sacramento) recently has been playing more than one version of a few songs in their playlist. The first two that come to mind are "Lonely No More" playing both the Pop and AC mixes, and "Hero" by Enrique Iglesias, playing the album version and the Metro mix. I can't seem to figure out any sort of a pattern as to when the different versions are played.

Do any other stations do this? What might be the logic behind it?

I don't know of any other stations that do this. Although, a station for example might play the pop version of Rob Thomas' "Lonely No More" locally, but on some syndicated show (such as John Tesh or Delilah), you may here the AC version. It depends. I have never heard of Enrique's retro mix of "Hero" though. Interesting.

It's called the "METRO" mix and it is an upbeat, dance tune that is a refreshing change from the slow ballad. We play it in AM drive on Fridays, for example.

We also play Brayn Adams "heaven" and the DJ Sammy remake (w/Yanou & Do, not he dance mix). But with 23 hours separation. If Delilah or Tesh palys it, we can't do much about it. Doesn't happen often, though.

An example I have heard recently is D.H.T.'s "Listen To Your Heart". A station in my area plays the dance mix during the day and the sleepy version at night.

Peace.
