Same song - Same time....

I was tuning into Star 99.9 today at about 4:27pm and then I switched over to WEBE 108 and it occurred to me they were both playing the same song at the sametime! Dobie Gray's Drift Away was being played on both stations.

Sorry.. I just think that's pretty cool.

Anyone have similar experiences with any other stations?

My record was four stations at once. In 1978, the four Waterbury AMs (WWCO, WATR, WNVR & WQQW) were all playing Olivia Newton-John's "Hopelessly Devoted to You" simultaneously. Now you probably won't hear it anywhere. It's an example of a hit yesterday that isn't necessarily one today.

That happens all the time. Most stations have such tight playlists that it's hard to avoid. I often hear the same song on Hot 97, Power 105, and Z100 all at the same time.

I believe the all time record was set in Hartford/Waterbury and New Haven all
at the same time..Although the date is fuzzy I remember it happening in 1980
while I was doing overnights at WIOF (Magic 104)..Seeing as we had a Hartford
phone line all of the overnight guys used to confrence call..on this perticular night it was me at Magic,Mike Grady at WDRC-FM,Bob Bittens at WHCN,Litch at WCCC,
Donna R at WWCO,I can't recall who was at WWYZ and WPLR and WRCH...We all agreed on this night at 2am straight up to all play "Nights in White Satin" all at the same time (the 7 minute + version) and up and down the dial that is what you heard...Colin McEnroe wrote us all up in his column when he did the radio column for the Courant. I got reprimanded for "talking to the competition" by Lou Terri
(my mentor...I really miss that guy..)and probably would have been let go if I had broken the format (Nights was scheduled to come up at 2) and make the point of good press for the station...Fun times....
