Yup. That's what we do. Listeners decide the hits, not the self-acclaimed elitists. And smart people play the hits in their market, not what's necessarily national hits.

BTW, I did take the Kid Rock out of power, it makes a good B record for now.

TSL is low on Top 40 compared to other formats, BUT what Rivers said about playing the 7 powers and 10 mediums all day just gives you the cume. That's where recurrents and golds come in, to keep it fresh while keeping familiarity around the less familiar stuff.

OK...I'll bite, since you keep bringing it up. By what methodology do your "listeners decide the hits"? What criteria do you use?

What other stations in the area are playing (including those that aren't CHR's), how well they do regionally, listener feedback, and some gut feeling.

What methods do you use for listener feedback?

Here we go again

Only if you out-of-towners knew.

The PD spends more time worrying about what other stations in and around the market area are doing -- stations that are not a threat (or should be) to their P1's whatsoever. A CHR should not care what a ROCK and HOT AC stations are doing because they certainly can care less what a CHR is doing.

The station is known to blow out entire weekends at least once a month to do 70's/80's/90's weekends and call it "old school". Kansas, Nazareth, The Village People, Dexy's Midnight Runners, Eddy Grant, 'Til Tuesday, and the like are NOT "old school". Not even close, but let's save that discussion for another time. That kind of programming ignorance tells your P1's to go somewhere else, like Hot 104.7 perhaps, for an entire weekend. No Mister Microphone, I am not saying this to defend KKLS and the company, I am only mentioning the other CHR option in the area, that happens to be better sounding in my opinion.

Also, KKCK has a well-known history to spin the hell out of songs simply because they are money songs and/or they are playing a show for them.

Who cares about the CHR in Podunk Town that never will? Let's talk about radio stations that matter, like Z100 for example.

You obviously do.

It's only "here we go again" because you're taking it there. Relax. I appreciate you taking any opportunity to bash this radio station, but it still doesn't satisfy my curiousity. My question still stands.

Isn't that what you are doing with your incessant posts about KKCK, but I digress.

Since we all know you program the Cumulus Media country station in Sioux Falls, SD, I can guarantee that if a resume crosses the desk of anyone on this board with those call letters, they are going to look to see if it's you. I am willing to bet that 99.9% of the people wouldn't even consider you a candidate for a position based solely on your demeanor on this board.

Truthsayer...this is not to bash you, but to, hopefully, open your eyes and help you to realize how self destructive your behavior can be. You obviously are knowledgeable about radio, no one is debating that, but just remember that this business is incestuous in nature and it'll get around that your downside far outweighs your upside.
