San Antonio gets another active rocker, will we?

97.7 in San Antonio flipped to an active rock station to go up against 99.5 KISS in efforts to reclaim their top spot. Will we ever get an active rocker?

Something tells me it's coming. Gut instinct, I guess.

LOL, Hot 95.7 isnt going anywhere. It's only been around for a couple of days now.
Besides, the new Active Rocker 97.7 doesnt seem to have all that grade of a signal penetration into a good portion of the San Antonio area.

A station would flip to a smooth jazz station first then and active rock station

97.7 in S.A. ??? has to be a rim-shot! KJ-97.3 is way too close. I hate rimshots.

The move at KLTO was a direct response to KBBT being kicked from its #1 Spot. Not likely to see Active rock from Univision here in Houston, but do keep an eye at KPTY, anytime now, we should see it tweak its format or just take a new direction.

This station reaches all of S.A. However, the signal does start to cut in and out on the north and far northwest side but it's still decent.

I agree that changes are likely for KPTY. Gotta wonder if Univision has a few regrets about dumping Que Buena.

With the launch of Hot 95.7 and the possible demise of Mega, this is probably the time for Univision to do something more in-core with 93.3...or just bring back QB.

I just don't know why companies are afraid to try Active Rock. We seem to be stuck in the past with the limited Rock music played here in Houston. Even "The Buzz" has become a lot more mellow on the music, which given the lack of an Active Rocker, you would think they would trend to the harder stuff. I heard "With Or Without You" by U2 the other day. You can hear that on KODA, KHMX, and KHPT amongst others.

I don't see Univision going this route though, even though KISS/San Antonio seems to draw a lot of Hispanic listeners.

I just wish someone hear would try it, especially Cox, who owns KISS and has done well with it there. The demos between Houston and San Antonio are comparable.

add "Iris" by the Goo Goo Dolls and a Jack Johnson track. I like both, but they do not belong on a rock station, more like AC or AAA. I think I'm not the only one who would like to have an active rock in Houston. I was in SA a week ago and was enjoying KISS (the only station worth listening to there). Even 97.7's new format sounded real good, even though it's a copycat of KISS.
