San Antonio shakeup

Two great moves! Unfortunately, the loser in this will be KLUP.

I have nothing against Bolton, other than I simply could not take 5 minutes of him. I can't say that I disagreed with him - I just never liked his show. You would have thought I would have naturally swithced over to KTSA for Duel. But frankly, that Bones character was a disappointing sidetrack to the show.

My out was to listen to the end of Michael Medved on KLUP and then hope that I could get home in time to turn off my radio before having to endure Michael Savage.

The fact is, the best move WOAI could make was to make Hannity a full 3 hours and follow up with the Thompson Brothers.

Duel still won't make it until they get Charlie Parker to move over to KTSA. It wasn't that Duel is better off by himself, it is that he didn't have the right partner. And Booms isn't coming back either.

Any ideas who WOAI is planning to run at 8 p.m.? The Web site says the syndicated show there now is filler while they do a nationwide search. Why not put Bolton there?

MySA moved the story to <a target="_blank" href=http://www.mysanantonio.com/columnists/stories/MYSA092905.5P.jakle.14d412c5.html>http://www.mysanantonio.com/columnists/stories/MYSA092905.5P.jakle.14d412c5.html</a>

I'm glad The Bone is gone. He seemed like a beginner when he started and never really developed into a meaningful contributor. Sometimes, Ed Garza would have been more engaging! Maybe Chris Duel needs a sassy female co-host to rein in his enthusiasm and boost his female demos?

I heard a promo on WOAI this morning trumpeting the addition of the third hour of the Hannity show and wondered how Bolton's show would adapt to a 5:00 start. To me, Bolton wasn't even listenable in small doses. Shrill delivery, obvious topics, inane commentary. Three strikes and he was out in my book long before today.

6 hours is a huge chunk of the day for a big-city news-talker to devote to syndicated fare. I'll be surprised if this WOAI lineup lasts 6 months.

I do like Joe Pags better than Trey Ware, though.

Charlie Parker's sports show is absolutely awful. He may even be worse than that weasel-voiced Jeff Vexler. In my opinion, the only competent local sports talk hosts this city has ever had were the Thompson boys and Don Harris.
