Has anyone noticed that there’s more Rock is now being played on Mix, To me it sounds like Mix switched to Z's format and Z switched to Mix, Does Mix have a new pd or what’s going on?, It looks even like The Beat is opening there play list a little more, its more than the same 6 songs being played every hour and seems like there going like Beat Austin playing more R&B Rap.., Has anyone heard the new Latino Mix on KXTN 107.5 from 10 till Midnight, Its all Reggaeton and Cumbias, Its sounds pretty good..

Correction, please disregard my error in the last post, just reread and noticed that I forgot to delete the word “there’s”, sorry..

Mix 96.1 got a new pd sometime last year. Tony Travatto is the man responsible for some of the positive programming changes such as OHP, Mixshows, etc....

As for KXTN, I think it's kinda weird that KXTN plays Reggeaton at night when the majority of the format is geared to the older generation. is on 107.5 and not the Beat.

If I remember right, Mix had the feel of a "Rock 40" when they launched. And they were good at what they did at the time, as most of what music was played (when it was the rock/alternative stuff) was and still is the only place to here it in SA. As for KXTN, well they needed to do something......

My observation is that the numbers speak for themselves. When Mix started to go slightly more urban I thought it was a huge mistake. If I remember right their numbers went slightly down. I guess their PD saw it the same way and changed it back. Now-a-days, they are veering more away from an Urban lean by playing more alternative rock. Their imaging is great and the overall stations just sounds good. And with all the Alamo City rumors of Z flipping, I think it wil only help Mix in the long run if Z did indeed flip one day. Speaking of, anyone have any insight on this? If Z flipped it would be in everyones best interest except 98.5 Mix would pick up the remaining of Z listeners **not to mention better numbers**. The hip hop fans who are sick of 98.5 would also be pleased too. 106.7's new format would almost surely get listeners. The only bad thing is that the Alamo city market would get even more flooded with hip hop music. As if we didnt already have enough.

hands down, z is one of the worst top 40 stations in the country.

You're right, numbers do speak for themselves. However, Mix 96.1 doesn't have much to brag about. The Summer 0f 2005, Mix was at a 3.3 and the latest trend has them at 3.7. On the other hand, Z going more Rhythmic has really helped them. Summer 2005 they were at 2.3 and now they're at 3.2. Z has been on the upswing since the reductions of the Rock crap. Mix shouldn't worry too much. Cox will figure out away to f-up their postive gains.

And for those of you that think that BMP is going to keep Jack-keep dreaming.

Looks like BMP could of played more Reggaeton on Digital 104, the digital 104.9 in Austin seems to play more Reggaeton than digital 104.1 does. Yeah I see Jack fliping, but more than likely to Spanish hiphop & Reggaeton.

Digital 104.1 here in S.A. has added some Reaggeton but not too much. I believe it's the same ones that Digital in Austin are playing.

look for jack to become reggaeton or spanish top 40. it will happen.

why would they want to flip jack? Why do we need another spanish top 40 when we have one already that has better coverage now? Jack has zero on air staff. Hell they don't even have traffic and weather. All that the station does is plays music and commercials.

They won't flip to another Spanish format. Both 94.1 and 102.7 are struggling in their target demos which is 25-54. By elimating one, the 25-54 pie expands. My guess is The Beat will finally get a real competitor.

I see something similar to a Movin format eventually happening. None of BMP stations are doing well other than Norteno 720. BMP is now at point where they need to do something with both 94.1 and 102.7. The excuse of "we don't have a good signal" is not going to cut. Both stations reach all of S.A. If BMP decides to go with the Rhythmic AC format. It will likely land on at 102.7 with the KTFM call letters and 94.1 gets a new format possibly the Hot format in Laredo.
