SAN DIEGO ARBITRON RATINGS: AUGUST 2011

Channel 9-3-3 is being passed up rather quickly. The Soft Rock stations seems to be on a rise. Sophie seems to go up and down with every month. 91X is winning amongst its genre and FM 94-9 is just staying put trying to maintain a pulse.

Well since Charlie Quinn at KyXy calls KyXy the Mercedes of radio stations, then to quote "Springtime for Hitler" by Mel Brooks. Deutcheland is on the rise again!!

KYXY had a 6.4 average, 25-54, for January, February and March. April, May, June and July averaged a 5.0 and this last book was a 5.2. That's no change for five months now.

91X is on a tear, at 3.0 in the 12+ vs. competition from 94/9 which is at a 1.8 in the August results. It seems that 91X began separating from the competition ratings-wise when they began airing a lot of 80s new wave a while back. Still FM 94/9 is IMO one of the 5 best alt. rock stations of the last 20 years.

The "Mighty" has sure gone out of the 690, one bungle after another beginning with Clear Channel trying to turn XETRA Sports 690 into a Los Angeles sports station. A great signal with no one listening.

As noise levels have built up over the last decades, the ability of 690 to compete outside of the much more local Tijuana / San Diego area has become limited. So now it has refocused on being a part of the Televisa Radio (oddly not controlled by Televisa) "W" network with a combination of southern California and Mexico City originated programming.
