San Diego Arbitron Ratings: Holiday 2012

http://ratings.****************/cgi-bin/rol.exe/arb063

These are the publicly released overall age 6+ rankings for the Holiday 2012 survey period covering Thu. 12/6/12-Wed. 1/2/13.
The next survey period will be January 2013 covering Thu. 1/3/13-Wed. 1/30/13 with the data release date being Tue. 2/19/13.

So according to these numbers, the combined KOGO AM/FM numbers put them at #1 with a 6.2, but they still decided to dump the simulcast on FM? Somebody jumped the gun when the previous 1.7 share for the FM came in earlier in the year?

To follow up on Big 121's post:

The KOGO AM-FM simulcast was broken on Fri. 11/16/12 @ 7pm when the FM side went all-Christmas.
The ho-ho-hos (not the snacks, silly-though they're gone, too! ;D) ended on the FM on Wed. 12/26/12 @ 9:57am with 95~7 KissFM starting.

The December '12 PPM period was from Thu. 11/8-Wed. 12/5 and Holiday '12 was from Thu. 12/6-Wed. 1/2.

For December '12, the simulcast lasted 8 days 19 hours; they were split for 19 days 5 hours.
For Holiday '12, the FM was "Holiday" for 20 days 10 hours and "Rhythmic Oldies" for 7 days 14 hours.

Thus, the numbers seen on the Arbitron reports for the following months should be seen as follows:

Station    Format     Owner      Aug 12  Sep 12  Oct 12  Nov 12  Dec 12  Hol 12

KOGO-FM   R&B Oldies Clear Channel 2.8      2.8       3.0       3.7       1.7       3.6
KOGO-AM   Talk         Clear Channel --       --         --        --        2.6       2.6

Aug 12 = AM-FM simulcast Talk = 2.8
Sep 12 = AM-FM simulcast Talk = 2.8
Oct 12 = AM-FM simulcast Talk = 3.0
Nov 12 = AM-FM simulcast Talk = 3.7 (Election coverage)
Dec 12 = partial simulcast (8+ days) - AM Talk (28 days) = 2.6
FM Talk (8+days)/Holiday (19+ days) = 1.7 (unsure if 1.7 applies to all 28 days)
Hol 12 = no simulcast/combining - AM Talk = 2.6;
                                              FM Holiday (20+ days)/Rhythmic Oldies (7+ days) = 3.6

OK, then it doesn't seem like the FM was adding much to the KOGO-AM numbers...so they're likely to bring in more cash with music on the FM...

KOGO-AM doesn't exactly have the big numbers that KSDO used to get (and it's really the same station since they moved all of the KSDO programming over to KOGO in the 90's)...

I love that the owner of KPBS-FM is listed as "Pastor John Young" and not the SDSU Foundation.
