San Diego Question

I'm not from San Diego, but i was looking at Radio-locator and found two 99.7 FM. Both coming from Tijuana. Is it a Typo from Radio-locator or is there two stations in Tijuana that broadcast in 99.7 FM because I don't know how Mexico's communication's commision works. Once again, I'm not from San Diego so I don't know if there is two stations or not. Here is the links to both of the stations coverage mapsXHTY http://radio-locator.com/cgi-bin/pat?call=XHTY&service=FM&status=F&hours=UXHBCN http://radio-locator.com/cgi-bin/pat?call=XHBCN&service=FM&status=F&hours=U

XHTY used to be on 94.5,and 99.7 was XHBCN....then these stations as well as am 1470 were sold to Uniradio group and they decided a couple of years a go to swap only the call letters of 94.5 and 99.7.....XHBCN is now XHA,which used to be radio amor on 99.7 and then 94.5 after the swap......now XHA is like a relay of 99.7,except they say its La Invasora Tijuana, and 99.7 is called La Invasora San Diego_Other than that they are the same.

94.5 and 99.7 are not the same. They have totally different commercials (94.5 runs the Mexican spots) and 99.7 has the US ones.

i have a friend in the san diego market and she tells me all the stations that broadcast from Mexico are REQUIRED to play the Mexican national anthium 2 times each day reguardless of format. Is that true?

I don't know if it's required, but they do play it at least once a day on all Mexican radio and television stations I've listened to. It is usually done very early in the morning like 2am or when they sign off for the day (if they do).

Well, if you look at XHRM (92.5), XHLNC (90.7), and XHOCL (99.3) at www.yes.com, each of these stations top 100 songs contain the Mexican National anthem.

Uh... How to answer that.

All stations licensed to Mexico (calls begin with "X") per order of the Mexican government must play the Mexican National Hour and must play the Mexican National Anthem once a week. This has been this way for a very long time, and nothing new or out of the ordinary. So every Mexican based staton in San Diego would have this on their playlist.

National HOUR? Oh that sucks. That would sound so horrible on a CHR station.

It may sound horrible, but they gotta do it, just like US stations need to say the Call Letters and City of License at the top of every hour. That's just the way it is...

I"m not sure about one. I don't recall Z90 saying their Calls every break, nor 91X or XtraSports
So if that's a rule, stations haven't always complied!

The anthom is required by law to be played at the end of the day (ussually at midnight) when stations used to shut down for the day,and at the begining of their daily broadcast which is 6am....if a station broadcast 24/7,then they play it at midnight and 6 am....the national hour is suppossed to be required by law,but i have heard stations broadcasting normally at that time...why do they do it,or how can they do it i have no idea
