I like 100.7 Jack FM!
No, not two radio columnists fighting it out, but one poster unfairly pulling a punch against another, which has no place here. And that is all I will say about that.
Now about 100.7 Jack FM, I am begining to like the station. I thik all Jacks really are very similar. I find that just like anything else, it is all about chance. If you have Red Marbles, and Green Marbles and Blue Marbles, and you throw 'em all into a bag, chances are, are different times you will get more of one than the other. Put another way, I've discovered that depending when I listen, I sometimes get more classic rock songs than disco. Other times, I get more 80's songs than anything else. Other times, I get more 70s, or more new stuff. It's all about chance. Additionally, I've made this discovery about every Jack FM that I've listened to.
But I think if there is one constant with all Jack FMs (and strictly Jack FMs), it is the format has no consistancy to it. Just like Top 40 was in the pre-80's era, you are just as likely to hear any Hit from any decade at any time.
There are also some very interesting consitancies to being Jack:
ALL Jack FMs run the same jingle package EXACTLY, the "You" package, from TM Century, first used on the Vancouver Jack. This includes 100.7 Jack FM.
And, ALL Jack FMs have one of EXACTLY two Image logos: Either the "Deck of Cards" logo, used by Major market Jacks in NY, LA and Chicago, or the "Jack Banner" logo used by the like of San Diego or Dallas. I did notice that the "Deck of Cards" Jack is often employed by CBS Radio Jacks, but I don't know if that's unpurpose or not.
So, I think the fact that Radiogeek heard more Rhythmic songs on 100.7 Jack FM was just left up to chance, and nothing more. Of course, that's just my uninformed opinion. Who knows if Tracy Johnson is up to something. He didn't just fall off the turnup truck.
(and why is it always a "Turnup Truck" anyway? But this is off topic...)
