San Francisco CHR's

It seems like they change all to often

KMEL now Urban
KXXX Lastest 3 years
Z95.7 in 1997-2002 lastest 5 years

While KIIS-FM stayed on top in LA most of it's life..

Now we have 92.7 Rev-FM, Wild 94-9 & 997 Now

How long will this be??

WTF??? ???
KXXX was back in the late 80s/early 90s. X-100 was a great CHR during much of its short run, and sits exactly where 99.7 Now sits today on the FM dial.
If you're going to bring up stations that tried out the CHR format back in the day you can also talk about Live 105 from 1983-1988, or the legendary KFRC on AM.
KMEL has been an Urban for years, and prior to that was a Rhythmic CHR for a long time, and prior to that it was a Mainstream CHR.
Wild 94.9 has consistently been a Rhythmic CHR for 2 decades now, first starting on the 107.7 frequency. The call letters were KSOL, and it was an Urban in the 80s

99.7 Now isn't going anywhere anytime soon - it's one of the most listened to stations in the Bay Area, and its ratings share is high as well.

I'm not saying its a bad thing

I listened to X100 back in the day, But it's sad the rating was low..So it became KFRC-FM

Who did X100 Compete with in the 3 years it been on the air?

X-100 didn't have a direct competitor in San Francisco. It came on the scene after 106 KMEL had already completed its shift to Top 40/Dance, and then Top 40/Rhythm, and after Live 105 completed its evolution from Mainstream Top 40 to Modern Rock.
X-100 was Dance/Pop friendly, much like today's CHRs (and much like the current sound of 99.7 Now) until it went in a more Adult leaning direction towards the end of its Top 40 run.
In San Jose it competed against 94.5 KWSS, which was CHR/Pop, Hot 97.7 which did Top 40/Dance, and with 95.3 The Cat which was an Adult CHR.
Hot 97.7 was modeled after Hot 97 New York and Power 96 Miami, which were both Top 40/Dance stations at the time. They played a lot of Dance and Freestyle at that station, and it surprised me that the signal couldn't be picked up up in San Francisco.

X100 was a fun station to listen to back in the day. Had a good signal that could reach over the Altamont into San Joaquin County. I remember the liners they used during the 1989 baseball playoff run. "From The baseball capital of the world, this is KXXX San Francisco AND Oakland. Go Giants, Go A's!"
