Some additions/corrections to the San Jose ratings grid:

Station Est % Cume Format Owner

KSOL-FM 4.2 165,500 Regional Mexican Univision
KYLD-FM 3.2 272,000 Rhythmic CHR Clear Channel
KDFC-FM Stream 0.4 13,600 Classical Entercom
KPFA-FM 0.2 26,200 Variety Pacifica
KRXQ-FM 0.0 8,200 Rock Entercom
KSFM-FM 0.0 9,100 Rhythmic CHR CBS Radio

Man, 95.7 The Wolf took a nose dive, especially in cume. I'm praying that they do not flip. It is the best country station I have heard in a long time. Anybody have inside information if they are planning on making any changes to the wolf? whether its staff changes, tweaking the playlist by adding older tunes etc.

For as much criticism as they get on this board KKSF is off to a pretty good start with their new format. It looks like their audience is coming at the expense of KFOG.

Very impressive double digit numbers for KBAY in San Jose. They are now one of the highest rated ACs in the US.

I couldn't agree more, Jay. KKSF as The Band looks like a winner and KBAY is killing in San Jose. Funny that these stations take a lot of criticism, along with KOIT, for being boring and playing nothing new musically but the ratings look terrific.

25-54, which is where the money is, The Band has gone from 18th in its final month in smooth jazz to 8th in this monthly...an amazing, steady 3 month rise. 18th-16th-13th-8th!

There are musicians and music afficionados, and then there are the mass audience. The mass audience wants familiar music, music that isn't challenging, music that doesn't rock the boat. I know that when I play my accordion in cafes and at parties I get the best response from what I call the 2-chord wonders, the simple songs like TV themes and such. They're not that interesting for me to play, but when I do play something interesting and musically challenging the reception from the mass audience is ho-hum.

So, too, radio is the same way. People would prefer to hear the simple and familiar.

Do you take requests, David? I'd like to hear Hawaii Five-O, please.
