You are grossly misreading my posts. At no time have I ever said "I had the right to stop them" or anything of the sort. I said I don't like their music and, more importantly, despise the image they project as role models. We have more than enough losers in the world without promoting a cartoon clown who must have bypassed puberty and a morbidly obese and under dressed female exhibitionist.

May I remind you that you so proudly served your country to protect all Americans, underdressed, obese, exhibitionist "losers" and all. Why you consider the existence of these people a threat to members of your family is beyond me.

As for opera, one word: Pagliacci.

Looked it up (without pictures). Seven years ago, backyard of his private estate in Bora Bora. About to go for a swim. Paparazzo with a long lens. Are we gonna call the vice squad for every actress who’s had the same treatment?

Well, I'm still curious.

Can't be her weight (although Tuna did include "morbidly obese" in one of the posts). I don't recall him (at least here) ever referring to Kate "God Bless America" Smith (20 pounds lighter than Lizzo) or Mama Cass Elliot (40 pounds heavier than Lizzo) as "circus attractions".

I was given no choice to "serve my country". I, like so many others, was under the threat of the draft. Except for the skills I learned in the Navy I might as well have been in prison. Come to think of it you could learn life skills in a prison as well.

These people are a threat to my offspring and their peers because (1) the media constantly shoves their weirdness in our faces as the epitome of musical talent and personal behavior and (2) the labels continue to push the "out of bounds" performers instead of the quality of their products (both auditory and visual). They are the equivalent of a very bad morning show (TV or Radio, take your pick). I can pick and choose what I watch or listen to but pre-teens, teens and young adults are much more easily swayed. Do you really think covering your body with asinine tattoos or performing in a G-string and weighing over 400 lbs is 'entertainment'? Those are the equivalent of a $2 lap dance at closing time and is also why rappers are equally disgusting.

Pagliacci was an overweight opera singer who had to carry a handkerchief to wipe his bulbous face and wipe his drool as he sung. Although he had the pipes he was embarrassing to watch.

We need to raise the bar on musical performers, not lower it further.

As you already, or should, know I am in no position to influence what or whom the labels decide what to promote. I simply ignore the whole industry. They are the musical equivalent of the used car industry.

Nothing wrong with buying used cars. It puts the responsibility on the buyer. Same with music.

Well, given that Mama Cass rather famously posed with zero clothing on (to promote “Flower Power” in 1967) was arrested for drug possession, took LSD while pregnant and—good heavens, is that a tattoo?—-I’m not exactly sure on what basis I’m supposed to make that choice.

(ps: Lizzo weighs 260. Cass is 300 here.)

Neither Kate nor Mama Cass ever performed in public dressed (or undressed) as has Lizzo.

We used to have some level of public performers in this country. Those have apparently been flushed down the drain.

I'd remind you that Shakespeare was considered in his time much in the way you view rap and hip hop artists today.

I am 'most people' as well but there is a big difference between simply listening to music and viewing a public performance. With the sole exception of rap I don't have prejudices.

When I was a kid I collected every record Fats Domino did. I never found fault with him personally or his music. I loved Doo Wop which had a preponderance of Black groups. I loved The Platters (MOR). My favorite Country singer was Don Williams (White) closely followed by Charlie Pride (Black). My favorite soft pop singer was Earl Grant. None of these were chosen by anything other than their music. But none of them performed in outfits that totally exceeded appropriate standards either.

Lizzo resembles Carol Doda (if Carol had a voice).

Pagliacci was a comedic opera in which a clown was the central figure. The tubby tenor you're thinking of was Luciano Pavarotti.
