SAN FRANCISCO & SAN JOSE ARBITRON RATINGS: FEBRUARY 2011

Age 6+ overall publicly released data for the February 2011 period of Thu. 2/3/11 to Wed. 3/2/11.
Next report will be for March 2011 (Thu. 3/3/11 to Wed. 3/30/11) with the release date of Mon. 4/18/11.

KNDL once again gains with its "KDFC" format. I'm surprised KUSF doesn't show up. Don't they have a PPM encoder? Heck, even KPFA has one.

Another gain is KGO, going from a 4.4 to a 4.9 to a 5.0 share. So, even without Mickey Luckoff KGO is regaining its dominance.

It's up 30% in 25-54 since November, but still at a miserable 16th. #1 in that demo is KQED, followed by KBRG and the KCBS AM and FM simulcast.

If Cumulus moves KGO to FM not only will they be more competitive with the KCBS simulcast, they'll have substantial gains in 25-54. :)

A 30% gain for 25 to 54 is a hell of a gain already! Just think what they'd do with an FM...

IMHO, Cumulus is looking at this very closely. KGO could probably gain another 30% in 25-54 with an FM.

Cumulus is also probably keeping a keen eye on what CBS might do with 105.3 FM. If CBS flips it to sports, Cumulus would likely follow suit with KNBR. :)

Would Cumulus want KNBR to at 104.5 to be close to (Possible FM Sports Outlet) 105.3, while having KGO at 107.7 to be close to (All News KCBS) 106.9?. Or just the opposite? Not taking into account reception and over the air signal strengths.

Why would it matter if they're close together? People are too lazy to tune, and prefer to just "seek" or "scan?"

They could flip it around and have Sports next to KCBS, and KGO next to 105.3 The Fan (How much longer must we wait for it!)

Just because 105.3 "The Fan" is being speculated about on this board endlessly doesn't mean it's a done deal. Live 105 has had low ratings for years - maybe it hasn't flipped because CBS is happy with the demographic the station brings in - or because they can sell the station to as a combo to advertisers along with 97.3 & 99.7. Who knows? But there may be a reason.
