Where is Sandy Payton now, and any thoughts on 97AIA. It seemed to have a long history. Loved the format. It was probably the only station that played "Super Trooper" by Abba, I remember Sandy saying it was going to be a big hit for the group. Any history on AIA would be fun. The original ZETA 94 was a great one to listen too also, But the jock didn't say much. Who origally owned it. There was also a Zeta 7 too in tampa or orlando I think.

For a while, I remember her doing "Real to Reel" (or was it the other way around?) on WCKT/WSVN, Channel seven.
Mount Dora's <a target="_blank" href=http://www.cflradio.net/107.7%20WMGF.htm>107.7</a> has a colorful background.
Do you remember 107.5 before WIGL became Super Q?
They played Charlene Duncan's "Never been to me" years before it became popular. The station's one career success story has to have been Illeana Bravo.

I remember Sandy doing talk at WIOD and WAIA.
She also did shows at three different stations on the same frequency in the same town! She was on WFUN (790), WNWS (790), and WMRZ (790). I believe the WFUN program was a Sunday night show called "Sandy Peyton's Place".
As for WIGL, I believe it was started in 1974 by Jack Roth. It was WWOK's sister station, and played a modern country format. It became an A/C format in 1976 simular to WAIA, but then became a simulcast of WWOK around 1978. It briefly had the call sign WJOK. It was sold in 1979 to Susquehanna, and became WQBA-FM (Super Q). It was a mix of spanish/english pop and disco.

Two great stations, WAIA and WIOD! They played unusual soft rock music not heard in other parts of the country with lots of personality.
