Sangean HDR-15

That should be a great HD clock radio!
Only if it wakes up on the HD subchannel that you want, and not on the main HD-1 channel as too many Sangeans seem to.

Are you stating this as a clock radio function, or a general radio function?

My Sangean HDR-16 goes to the HD-2 when I switch it on.

Yes, the -16 will power on to an HD sub-channel (though the -18 won’t) when you push the power button, at least with most firmware versions. HOWEVER, you cannot get the alarm-by-radio function to tune an HD sub-channel, at least on the -16 and -18. All they will do is tune to a frequency, but they will not let you specify an HD sub.

Jeez... Universal Radio hasn't changed the layout of their web site since the 1990s! (Not that I'm complaining. I like simple, fast-loading web sites.)

And so much for HD Radio being "CD quality" on FM, listening through that 3-inch mono speaker...
