Sangean SR35

Hello to all. I just picked this radio up. I figured for $17 it was worth a look. Yes I'm a huge radio nerd. LOL I prob have bought like 10 or more radios in the past 10 years. So this radio is worth it for sure. I was surprised with the reception on it. The headphone jack is mono. Meaning the signal is mono but it goes into both earbuds. The AM receptions seems decnet for this radio. It's not in the league of the CC EP or 2e or whatever but it is not bad. The FM beats something like an SRF59. The audio on both headphones and speaker is good. I don't know the battery life but I bet it is good.

It's probably very similar to the Radio Shack Pocket Radio. Very good on AM, excellent mono reception on FM. Just guessing, but it probably has similar circuitry and the same DSP chip inside.

It reminds me of a radio shack pocket radio. This thing is very awesome for the price. I have spend a day with it and loved it. It is not a DXing hog but that is why you have your EP or whatever. But you can DX from it in a pinch. I'll explain this the best way I can. So I have locals on both 660 and 740. I was able to tune in both WSM and WSB with the locals next door but you would hear the hash of the local and then the station would kick in depending on how you moved the radio. I plan to make a youtube vid on this radio and I will demonstrate this happening so you can hear it.

OK guys. For some reason, this has been my go to radio since Tuesday. Have not even played with the EP or HDR16. This radio is seriously underrated. Even if you don't need another a radio go buy it anyway. For a mono unit the sound is very awesome through both headphones and speaker!!!!! I thought I was not going to like this radio. For $17 you guys really should give it a look. It is really a decent kit for the money. You can actually get some DXing in on it if need be so I was wrong there. To give you an idea, it had 98 rock and 97X from Tampa booming in last night.

OK guys. I have had this radio for almost 3 weeks and have really enjoyed it. The audio is amazing, the reception is better than I thought and the quality is amazing. If you guys don't have it, I would really encourage you to buy it. It is an unassuming radio but I think a lot of you would enjoy it. I really did not think much of it but I have barely touched my bigger radios since I got this thing. A quick check of it's amazon listing shows it at $18.06. Here is the amazon link. https://www.amazon.com/Sangean-SR-35-Analog-Pocket-Radio/dp/B004Z5Z3Q2 Thank you Sangean for giving us an awesome inexpensive radio that performs amazing and sounds awesome through both the speakers and headphones.
