Sangean to repair HDT-1's at no cost to early adapters, New Tuners Soon!

The buzz is, Sangean is going to make things right for thiose early adapters who purchased the HDT-1 and had a problem with the bright display, the hot output or the faulty clock. Sangean has fixed these problems on current models but will make arrangements to have our radios shipped, fixed and returned at no cost.

Sangean is also making plans to release the HDT-1X, and is busy engineering the all new HDT-2.

I assume the clock is not keeping time? Same problem with the Accurian

I think the term you're searching for is early ADOPTERS (us). This would make Sangean the early ADAPTERS, as they're "adapting" the radios with too much output.

The "guts" of the Sangean and Accurian are largely the same. The remote is identical. The display is largely identical (it has more functions on the Sangean...but looks the same). My guess is the clock is (identical), too. I've had my Accurian since November, and never set the clock. "It has a clock?????" But I don't see well, and have a HUGE LED clock in the same room (my bedroom, where I do most of my listening...through headphones).

Remote is similar but not the same either in looks or codes sent. AM antenna with the Accurian is a bit nicer (shielded); reception with the Sangean is better.

Interesting. I've actually never seen a Sangean, except online. So it's nice to hear from someone who's used both.

My Accurian is in my bedroom, attached to a headphone amplifier (as well as the bedroom a/v system), and I listen mostly through headphones. My receiver in my main system will need replacing sometime this year. I'd love to replace it with one that has HD, but am not going to spend the huge sum a Yamaha would cost. So I'll probably buy an analog HK receiver, and a Sangean for HD. Or perhaps a better option will be available by then. HD is growing, and with it the number of choices.

the only issue I have with mine is in poor HD radio areas the radio won't make up its mind causing the channel to just be dead. there should be a way to overide channels like this to have it lock in anolog only so it won't cause the it to be dead air

I resolved this issue by simply having an HD tuner and a fine analog tuner hooked up in the same system. 8)

I don't think the average listener is going to do that. I'd like to see my Sangean tuner have a function to lock it in either analog or HD, and have it remember that pre-set every time I go to that station. That shouldn’t be very hard to do.

I am glad that HD manufacturers have begun to repair a few of the problems with their defective HD radios. More should be done to fix, or abandon the whole compromised hybrid HD system, in favor of spectrum seperate digital radio.
