Looks like Q 104.9, WTNQ, has flipped to Christmas this morning. The Q104.9 domain has been deleted so I would imagine a flip after Christmas. That one didn't last long. No surprise. The country market is too crowded. What's next?
Last few years B97.5 hasn't flipped to Christmas until a day or 2 before. Last year there was the format flipping WNOX to do Christmas.
I've been wondering if WNOX has any plans on making that regular. 104.9 doesn't do well in town anyways. Guess we'll see around Thanksgiving.
Chattanooga currently has 4 Christmas stations. I've always wondered why our market is so anti Christmas music. Currently in Chattanooga you have 92.3 and 107.9 full power stations and 106.9 and 95.7 translators.

As of today, they have updated the website logo and info to Santa 104.9. The classic country format may be officially dead now. I'm not gonna try to guess what's next because I don't know of much that will work in that area. Unless they bring the signal closer to Knoxville, not sure what can be put on it that will work.I'm starting to think that this isn't a change and the old format will be back after Santa heads back to the North Pole.
For one thing, the Q104.9 logo and information is still on the Loud Media page. When they went through all their other format changes months ago, the logos were removed or replaced immediately. It's still there today.
Also, there is still a lot of country music being played on Santa 104.9. On the average it seems every second or third song is country, including some dreadful song about a cute girl in an ugly Christmas sweater which seems to be in power rotation.
Surely 106.1 will remain untouched. The rock format has moved so many times already. I could see a rebranding or 105.1/1180. I can't believe they have held onto mid century this long. 105.1 would make a good VLZ simulcast considering that 106.1 is basically useless in Sevier and it would also help people in Blount County (myself) dealing with the interference from 105.9.I don't know if they are concerned with what will work in the area. They seem to like replicating their same formats in every market. I expect classic country to return. It could be a rebranding to K104.9 or maybe they will shuffle things and put it somewhere else like 105.1/1180 or 106.1.
I say this because they seem to be all in on this "K" classic country format. They flipped another one of their stations to it this week. Knoxville has the perfect demographic for the format and I don't think they are concerned that it's already elsewhere on the dial.
How does it compare to the Westwood One version of Classic Hits that WNOX used to run? It’s classic hits. The music mix is similar to 105.7 The Hog, but more focused. it sounds good to me, but they will have to do something about that slogan as I’m sure WNOX will have a problem with them using it too.
Haven't gotten to listen yet. Guess I have to reset a button for them. I imagine a C&D will be going out from Summit about the slogan. They cover the same era, but dig deeper than Westwood One.
