Santa Clause is coming to town

Santa Clause is coming to town and iBiquity Digital Corporation CEO Bob Struble is dreaming of an HD Christmas. Rumor has it they are asking Santa Clause to sell their one millionth HD radio by years end.

That was their goal in 2007. Let’s see with companies laying off people left and right, and home foreclosures like the depression era, me thinks that jolly old fellow might be stuffing stocking with socks and underwear this year.
And if they’re really lucky they’ll get a lump of coal, at least it burns.

John Gormans’ Media Blog said:
“They’ve announced their “Holiday ad flight” – 30 second spots pitching why “HD Radio receivers make great gifts.” The selling points include “clear sound” and “no bills to listen to all the new content like that other radio service.”
The spots will also encourage listeners to text SANTA or GIFT to 58011 so they can be kept – as the Alliance puts it – “up to date on the latest HD Radio specials and discounts.”

“If you want to scrutinize their killer creative (as in their creative would kill if the product wasn’t already dead) – go to the HD Digital Radio Alliance – and type in User: AWESOME; Passcode: awesome. And, no, I didn’t make any of this up.”

Any reason why you spelled it like the legal clause (like in the Disney movies) instead of good ole' Santa Claus?

Perhaps iBiquity has a legal clause with Santa for the elves to make HD radios this Christmas. Because that is about the only way left to try to get them into the hands of consumers!

NONE of the 9 FM HD's in town, or the 2 AM HD's in town, have so much as given-away ONE SINGLE HD RADIO to some deserving listener.
The easiest way to get a little HD buzz started it to:
#1 - Put some great formats on HD2, then
#2 - Start a contest. Give away an HD radio a day for a month, then
iBiquity gets their magic 1 million number by year's end!
#3 - Let your listeners, high school and college kids, select the format for your HD2 station for one whole book!

I have heard that this is actually being planned at some of the larger stations in the larger markets. I mean they have to do SOMETHING, eh?
