Santa Has Arrived Early In Temecula

Looks like Santa and Christmas has arrived a little early in Temecula, as they have switched to an all Christmas format. Don't know if this is just for the holidays or not? The station is still running the old KMYT 94.5 liners. At the rate BA stations are going and smooth stations in general, KMYT's Smooth Jazz format may not be back after the holidays. We'll see.

92.9 WLMI in Lansing (formerly WJZL) is also all-Christmas as of 9 am this morning. Interestingly, WFMK, the heritage AC station in the market, has never done all-Christmas. It's virtually a given that 92.9 will not return to smooth jazz after the holidays.

I won't be too surprised if KMYT goes Gen-X, which is what CC just did to one of their stations (ironically also a rimshot like KMYT) in Seattle.

Playing a lot of the songs A/C stations play (See Sean Ross' column) I actually dug up about 60 really strong holiday instrumentals to fill up the brunch show - songs that are seasonal but sound so much like regular stuff that people who don't like wall to wall holiday music can still enjoy them.

Hello my friends, hope you had a nice Christmas. ;D

As of midnight last night, PST, KMYT went back to the smooth jazz format. I thought of that too musicman, wasn't a bad guess. 8)
