Santa Rosa Radio

Something we haven't talked about in a LONG time! Any comments on Santa Rosa Radio? Lots of changes over the past year!

So, just because the stations are too ethnic and not to your liking.. it sucks?

im not saying that i don't like it im saying because you can probly still get the bay area's spanish stations

A couple of ownership changes. A new news director at KSRO.

What are the formats now? I know there is not an oldies station. Is there still a classic hits format? Which station?

How about a soft AC.? It is live after 10:00 a.m. or Memorex?

Any format voids that should be filled?

Newsperson

let's see...

the jury is still out on "the NEW mix 104.9" - it has the biggest signal and most repeaters north of the bridge now. how many a/c stations do we really need? (since we can hear star 101 and alice, along with KZST, kiss and KJZY...what am i missing? i can't think of the others...)

we're down to 1 country station up here, and for the life of me cannot figure out "why froggy?"

hot 98.7 has gone back to be a completely rhythmic top-40 station. their competion is...KMEL?

i love rock, but still can't listen to the fox. even with new programmers. i wish live105 came in better.

bob fm is still a jukebox. i haven't listened to the river in ages.

the krush is muuuuuuch better than kfog.

and yes, there are plenty of spanish stations up here now.

why can't we get a good top-40 station in the area? or something a little "hotter" than a hot a/c? maybe even an alternative/modern/rockin' station that plays something...good?

i quit watching t.v. because it sucked. i'm losing faith in radio.

is that [EDIT] still on the radio up there? and does he still comute from sacramento?

[EDIT-inflammatory]

For Santa Rosa radio, they need to find Candi Chamberlin, shes a great DJ from 1260 KYA , Back in 1979, she had "THE GOLDEN GATE GREATS" on KYA every sat. nite! Im amazed that she isnt on the air somewhere!! This Bay Area is with out an Oldies station, Im a big fan of XM, however Im still hoping to hear her on the air sometime!! She used to fill in at KFRC, but never got a regular show! Overlooked, yes she was, This Bay Area radio Mgmt. is out of touch! John Mack Flanagan, "LEE BABY SIMS" and Candi Chamberlin, are just a few of my Faves, they do RADIO RIGHT!!! Its a shame Candi Couldnt have gotten KYAradio1.com ,instead of the phony Chris Edwards (white)!!I would much rather hear a "true BAY AREA LEGEND" than him,I will say he s done a great job re creating KYA 1260, but he s a fake!! Candi would attract a larger audience than White!! Chris if you read this, remember in 1979 , you were not working for AVCO!!! Kenny in Concord, a KYA buff since 1962!!!!

Figures that someone who works at KRSH would say how GREAT they sound. HA HA.

One thing about KSXY is the Signal. Signal issues will always hinder their numbers. The station sounds the best it has ever sounded, especialy as a hip hop station. I'm sure they will improve.

KZST has been been going down every book. I think that KMHX could have a shot. Not at being #1 right now. But taking some of the audience. They sound better then they did when they were on 1041.

KNOB is BAD. REALLY bad.

KXFX sounds better then that have in a long time.

You can't start comparing SR stations to SF stations... There is a SF station for Every SR station.... IE KSXY-KMEL KMHX-KIOI/KLLC KRSH-KFOG KVRV-KSAN.... KZST/KOIT

and where do you work stinka? yes, i'm the janitor at KRSH. i clean up coffee spills and carpet stains and change light bulbs. keeps me busy and away from the mall.

i never said how GREAT the Krush sounded, just better than KFOG. the music is interesting at least and the people are pretty cool. they don't spit at me when they see me.

98.7's signal is pretty puny (with it's flame-throwing 165w way up on a hill in lake county!), and doesn't penetrate buildings well (if at all) south of santa rosa, but you can hear it in the car all the way to/from novato. better than some stations with more than 2kw that i can think of. hopefully 3rd time (as a hip-hop) is the charm.

Mix 104.9 has a shot - now that people can hear it, i think it will do something in the north bay. hopefully the powers that be will put a little marketing $ behind it. and maybe hire more live airstaff? i'm a dreamer.

i see how KZST could stay on top for so long, but for how long will it last?

KNOB might be bad as you say, but it's getting ratings. Better than most. Somebody's listening.

other than that, i can't think of too many other interesting things about santa rosa radio.

KRSH *is* a much more interesting musical mix than KFOG; that's because it's more Americana than triple-A. It's sorta halfway between KFOG and KPIG, musically. Which means it's a station that could only be successful in Northern Calif.

I used to work for Mr. Ferris. I would like to forget that.

How do you think the spanish stations will stack up to each other?

Get it right...Candi DID work full-time at KFRC. And, I agree, she was/is great!

;D

or in nashville, texas - like austin, memphis, mississippi, kentucky, or....who knows.

it's just a pretty cool station with good music and people who actually like what they're doing there.

excuse me, there's a sticky drink ring on a counter in a studio. and a light bulb that needs changing in a hallway...

"COASTERS, PEOPLE. C-O-A-S-T-E-R-S!!!"

Well, I was talking politically as well as musically. It's true that there are Americana-leaning stations in Austin and other Southern cities, but I doubt many of 'em mix in as many '60s relics (Country Joe & the Fish, etc) or overtly political current stuff as KPIG does. Even the very good KGSR in Austin (the Berkeley of Texas) isn't nearly as political.

Maybe Comcast should add Froggy 92.9, a Counrty station in Santa Rosa to their
digital channel line-up. 95.3 KRTY in San Jose currently is the ONLY Country station on the Cable system and it would be great if we had two country stations on Comcast!

I'd like to see them add KRSH, KPIG and KPOO to the SF Comcast lineup.
