SANTA WASN'T GOOD TO COAST

Again more on the numbers in All Access with a rundown of how AC stations did fall'07 and whether or not they went all Christmas. Apparently Lite went from 4th place to 1st place fall'06 to fall'07 with a 29% increase. Coast went from 5th to 7th during this period with a 29% decrease. Both stations played all Christmas during the season but Coast got run over by a lite reindeer apparently.

That station has always bounced up and down but at this point I don't see them making any progress at all with any version of an AC format. It just isn't going to happen. Change the line up. Change the music. No positive effect. If anything, a negative effect. Still I don't see any format change as there's no other that can bring in whatever female numbers CCU can scrape together. They'll just deal with it and continue cutting costs every so often. I wonder if they'll ever get to the point where the morning team or at least one of them does afternoon drive too like some CCU stations are doing.

It's looking more and more like Holland Cooke is right on this one......93.3 really does look like the odd man out among the music format stations.

The idea of 93.3 WHJJ-FM doesn't seem so fanciful anymore......

I just don't see it other than for the cost cutting. I don't think they could increase revenue much by simulcasting WHJJ on 93.3. Would probably not make much difference in the numbers either. It might turn out to be the same situation Citadel has with The Score on AM and FM.

Hot AC makes more sense to me. Instead of overserving the AC audience, they should try to fill the void of that female who's late 20s to early 40s. Too old for ProFM but too young for Lite. They never seemed to interested in that though, always wanted to just play it safe and keep Delilah.

that makes sence....but they could never think of anything like that..... to change the station might take a little effort on clear channels part and they wouldnt wanna spend any overtime helping launchin such a station.
