SANTOS NEEDS TO FIRE HIS PRODUCERS!

In looking at the response that a obviously biased poster put about Santos being this next big thing...

I have some tips for Mr. Santos based on the little listening of his show I've done...

First of all, he's rarely talks about local which makes me turn the channel

His producers overbook his show with nonsense quests that we don't care about....the over booking might be due to the fact that Santos is under prepared and just trying to be a radio star because someone else is paying for it.

But his producers that he seems to brag about need to go if he wants to succeed! Its obvious none have them have ever booked talk radio before, and to allow in best of recordings to not take out the news/sports/weather segments from past shows...Thats just unprofessional and lazy!

Santos himself also needs to do his homework instead of relying on guests to fill his show, my 10 yr old kid could host a show if it was full of guests. Thats Easy!

He needs to create riveting radio and talk about topics we care about, focus locally! He needs to generate calls brininging up topics that people want to talk about locally. Example being, we have a huge Senate race right now and he barely talks about it. We have other local issues every day taking place on Beacon Hill, get someone up there to cover that!

Until he does this its all over for him at the end of his 1 year contract!

Get Producers in there that have done talk radio before instead of the hacks you have now!

Hadn't really heard his show but I thought the idea was to have a local voice...not sure if he was this way during his Sun afternoon shows on the old Boston Prog Talk 1200/1430...

Indeed local issues are important and are being discussed on E&B, Graham, possibly Severin (is he talking up the Senate race?), McPhee, Finneran and Feinburg, Carr, Dan Rea, etc. I would think the new Rooney and Crossley shows on News Talk 89.7 ( :) ) do local stuff, perhaps from a leftist perspective.

If CC does take 1200 talk btw it is a lot better signal wise than before. Yesterday driving on 1-A around Rowley, etc. it was pretty strong and even in the middle of the night around Reading, not too bad. Would they do the Beck, Rush, Hannity, Levin, Coast to Coast route what with the Premiere/CC connection...?

Guests indeed can be important but I would hope he gets callers too (though some shows, like John Batchelor, are guests only/no callers). If he should get no callers, I would be reminded of the old sketch on Sat Night Live with Buck Henry as a talk host, giving out nine different numbers. No callers. He gets more and more desperate, racheting up the controversy level, etc...Just a fun take on "what if they gave a talk show and nobody called in?"

What contract? Santos and one other partner are Revolution Boston. Only Jeff Santos can pull the plug on Jeff Santos.

Oh yeah? The station will pull the plug in the blink of an eye if he misses a payment or bounces a check. Word is that Davidson doesn't mess around. Santos's backers have deep pockets, I guess, and Santos's being tight with Anthony might buy him an extra blink of the eye or two, but those pockets can't be infinitely deep.

Believe me i work over there, Jeff will be on as long as he can pay the bill, the higher ups like the idea of making money without having to pay more than 5 people, The station needs him as much as they need us. If they leave we have to fill 6am to 6pm in a hurry, and trust me it wont be local as we don't have a marketing department currently and they don't want to hire anyone to run it. I know that if Jeff doesn't resign Davidson/Blackstrap will most likely have to flip and use all nationally syndicated stuff be it sports or talk, and possible ESPN Deportes which came up in meeting earlier this week. Most likely they will do the MultiCultral/Growth Brokered thing they do in other markets which would be a real tragedy.
I hope Jeff stays I like my gig

He hosted debates during the Boston mayoral election. Hel also hosted debates during the Dem primary Senate contest. His Transportation Thursday (like the topic or not) centers on connecting North Station with South Station. His Environment Wednesday (like it or not) features talks with a rep from the Mass Sierra Club. His conversations around labor feature a local labor leader.

He doesn't talk much about State House machinations (thank the gods).

I don't know if you know this or not but the DMG station down in Hartford, CT is Spanish Christian programming. Both Music and Preaching. Wacky and crazy stuff. And always screaming at the top of their lungs. And it's piped in from an internet stream from New Jersey.

No, we don't know about WXCT because, unlike yourself, nobody cares about WXCT.

Although I may agree the work of Jeff's producer or producers may be sub par (putting it lightly) and hurt him more than help, Jeff is more than capable of making up the difference. Jeff is an excellant show host and always gets to the heart of the issues. Not to mention its a fair and an unbiased account each time. People want to hear about the goings on in Washington and overseas, it does not always have to be local. We are the blueist of blue states, we're better than the Republican uneducated filth thats out there. Democrats want to be educated, know whats going on in the world! Not hear nonsense banter about this bill and that bill in the statehouse.

When Coakley gives her acceptance speech at 10pm Tuesday night, it will only confirm what I just told you!

Jeff is a leader and we should follow!!!
