Its caught fire and can't be stopped, the Momentum that Santos and the crew at 1510 have worked hard to achieve is finally paying off! Arbitron will soon show the move past TKK with RKO next in line. Boston has a New King of morning shows. Credit Santos as the guy who ran IMUS out of town with his tail between his legs. The I-man got out even before the real beatdown happened because he knew it was inevitable! Next up its Finneran and the Fraud!!! Jim and Margery already moved over, they can't stop this Liberal train!!!

Go to AM1510 for ALL your unbiased and accurate local news, sports, weather and traffic! The Jeff Santos Show Mon - Fri 7-10am The Soon to be #1 Morning Talk Show in Boston!!!

I don't think they encode for PPM with Arbitron either. I must say, Jeff has made strides over the last few months. Now we have news and weather instead of Nascar updates. He has lined up some good programming from Dial Global too. Regardless of whether you agree with Stephanie Miller's point of view, she is damn funny. I never realized it, but the company that originally syndicated the programming--Jones Radio (which then became part of Dial Global)--is the descendant of Bill Drake's company that used to program stations like WRKO, CKLW, KHJ, etc. The only complaint I have is that many of the shows WWZN carries are time-shifted. I guess part of that is due to WWZN's prior commitments to Sporting News in the evening. Also, I guess Ed Schulz and Thom Hartmann are both on at the same time live, so one of them has to be time-shifted. I like Norman Goldman, and I wish he were on at his normal time.

I'll believe it when I see 1510 show up in the PPM ratings, until them it is pure speculation, if not wishful thinking.

As for owning the airwaves in 2010, his one year lease is up in April or May, let's see if he can renew it.

As a life-long Liberal Democrat, I wish I could believe something--anything--that Junkie posts. However, he (or is it she?) comes across as naive, uninformed, and orders of magnitude more optimistic that any facts can possibly justify. I still believe that Santos can't sustain his deal with Blackstrap for much longer--unless someone with whom he is associated has much deeper pockets than I can imagine. Junkie's wildly optimistic rhetoric would be decidedly counterproductive for Progressive talk if any sane person believed the drivel that Junkie is trying to feed us. I guess the good news is that nobody here seems to believe any of it.

Have you been into the Sensodyne lately, IMATALKRADIOJUNKIE? :) Please point to me in the ratings
(seen here at radio-info) where WWZN stands (as of now). Wait, perhaps moving past WTKK may be
possible :) Though at least TKK is on FM so I can hear them at night at work without having to hook
up a mini-FM transmitter (which I have to do to get WRKO, WEEI, or WBZ. Last night the only way I could
pick up WBZ at my workplace--Dan Rea--was to do just that. We have more electronics than Homer
Simpson's nuke plant) Anyway...

Not sure how well Santos does vs. say, Finneran though it was fun to hear Todd F. & Avi Nelson in Tom's
absence. Isn't Finneran's contract up this month or next? Perhaps they could use him on 1510

They now have competition middays on a 100,000 watt Boston station...that's right, the Rooney and
Crossley shows on WGBH. And let's say I don't think either will be of the same opinions as Carr,
McPhee, Severin, etc.

1510 does not subscribe to Arbitron so don’t look for ratings for the station. I think we all can agree, counting on someone to come in with a high five figure amount every month is a risky business maneuver for the station. Counting on investors to pay for 21 hours per day of programming with little or no paying advertisers is great for 1510 in the short run. However, Santos’ investors, I’m sure, would want to see a return on their investment soon. I have noticed that before Christmas the one big advertiser Santos had was Tufts Healthcare. I have not heard one commercial this week for Tufts. Hopefully, they have not left for his and the station’s sake. And, with regard to the sports shows in the evenings, they are a great insurance policy for Blackstrap and don’t involve any prior commitments to Sporting News. If Santos’ endeavor fails, the sports shows would provide some income to 1510 while it would struggle to fill the hole left by Santos. Take a look at the sports shows currently airing - Rog Homan on Sports (statistician for the Patriots with Gil and Geno on much of the time); Bernard Lee (Boston Herald columnist with a tv show on ESPN360); House of Cards (broadcast in four markets across the country including ESPN) and Mouthpiece Wrestling (who just signed a deal with Comcast to televise their radio show). These shows originated and are recorded in the 1510 studios in Quincy. These are not Sporting News Radio shows. They get good advertising so they pay their bills and they also increase the exposure of 1510 outside of New England. How many radio shows from Boston can do that? The next couple of months should be interesting to watch what happens at that station.

Are you saying you have to subscribe to Arbitron to show up in the ratings? That would imply that you have to pay Arbitron to get numbers. Or are you saying Arbitron has 1510's numbers, but does show them because they don't subscribe? Or are you saying that the ratings company is biased toward paying customers? I've always thought that you have to have listeners to show up in a book, regardless if you subsribe or not. I'm sure the folks at Arbitron would tell you that their surveys reflect actual listening, but you'd have to subscribe to legally use their results. Would you care to reconsider your opening statement?

"Owning the airwaves" is an appropriate phrase because he pays to be on the air--like a colon detox infomercial, only not as interesting.

As far as Arbitron, no, you don't need to subscribe to appear in the ratings...you do, however, need a PPM encoder. Jeff surely spends that money for his air time.

This whole thread is amazing.

Yeah, people are asking to be dropped from the airwaves cause they are afraid of another host?!?!?!

Come on.

He's done some good, glad people enjoy it, but come on.....hosts aren't quitting cause he "owns" the airwaves.

Like Miller: Stephanie not Dennis. Happy to hear 1510 putting TKK in the rearview mirror???

who ran IMUS out
Imus he hit his peak in '91: an outstanding morning show. I haven't listened recently but the disparity between revenues (strong) and ratings (terrible) is a long-running mystery.

THIS is the funniest thing I've read all year!!!

I think Anthony and the boys have way too much riding on a single dude. He buys 6am to 6PM currently, with a few overnight hours the deal is set to expire march 31, i for one don't see in continuing, Jeff has failed to bring in any sustained ad dollars, i know he and his investors are losing money monthly on this, from talking with him his hopes are getting on with another station and getting paid which i find to be a long shot at best. 1510 is completely time buy format, so it doesn't rely on ads for revenue, they do have some great local programming but those guys are forced to go get ad dollars themselves, if they would hire even one decent ad guy they could do more local programming, i see them flipping in the end to most likely multi cultral growth format all day and night.

Anyways good luck Jeff your gonna need it

Agreed that until AM-1510 subscribes to Arbitron, its numbers remain unconfirmed. However, in seeing all the other news/talk stations' numbers remaining flat or declining with no noticeable beneficiaries, one can conclude AM-1510 is having an affect.

Ummm...no. you can't conclude that. It's quite a reach.

Until the losing stations can prove a negative (or disprove in this case), it's fair game. Trust me. I used to do this for a living. It's all about making something from nothing. If it works, use it.

So, you make a claim with nothing to back it up, and put the oweness on others to prove you incorrect? As was said, it's a stretch.

You are not the only one who "used to do this for a living". There are many others on this board who used to...or still do this for a living...and won't accept your faulty premise.
