Sarah calls it quits on Alice

Sarah went on a rant today and announced that she was leaving KLLC as of Feb. 16. Apparently contract negotiations haven't gone well. Reality or bargaining?

Wow!

If she is leaving February 16th, is it smart for Alice to even leave her on the air so she can air all the dirty laundry?

Well...it is a tactic that has been used by Stern and others when they don't like the way their contract negotiations are going...kind of lights a fire under people. In this case though, with lagging ratings, not sure if it will work.

If I'm not mistaken, she does outperform other Alice dayparts historically. However, I don't see her in a position to play hardball.

How much $ is she holding out for? I have a hard time seeing listeners empathizing with someone who they perceive to work 4 hours a day40 weeks per year wanting to earn an excess of 7 figures.

Will be interesting to watch though.

Bye Sarah....I hope you saved your $$$$$$$$$$$$$.

She already makes 7 figures and was hoping to nearly double her salary.

7 figures for Sarah????

And as for outdrawing other day parts, is it that much of a deal that morning drive out draws middays, even PM drive or the night slot?

Even the worst stations can usually say that...

could this mean a possibility that Strawberry could go do mornings at Alice (I think they are owned by CBS)

Not such a big deal unless the difference is so dramatic. Alice Adult ratings - Mornings #6, Midday #17, PM Drive #20.

7 figures??? That would mean she's making a million plus in. Haaaa.....Haaaaaa where do you people come up with this ------??????

Try $300-400K at best...remember it's CBS.

Strawberry's seems to adapt to any format. I'm sure he wouldn't mind making 7 figures.

too bad salaries only go up if the ratings go up. not when the ratings plummet.

Are you willing to take a job with that criteria?

i'd take her job for 60K a year.....
and probably do it better

I think a million a year is a little optimistic. That would make her one of the highest paid DJ's in SF in fact the Highest I would have to believe. If that is what CBS thinks is worth a million, then no wonder they are in trouble in the radio Biz.

Now I do know that Someone like Savage Makes a million for his SF Show on KNEW, but that's because he can cut his own deal in SF outside of his Syndication deal. Good for Him. But the Savage is a National personality. Sarah is a Local DJ.

If she was making 500k, that would be impressive, a million is outrageous. I would
guess 3-400 K may be more like the reality. They had a very impressive book Post
Howard. But it's been trending down ever since. If Alice owned the market for ratings I might say yes too, but they don't. And I'm talking the Key Demo's.
25-54, 18-35 etc. Men and women. Number one's by a mile.

I've been doing this for a long time, Served on Union Boards, approved Contracts.
Alice is a Union Station, Not that that maters in a Personel Service contract situation, but 1 million a year is the kind of thing you would notice and hear about.
I don't think the show is syndicated either, which would make the pay more.

1 million a year is TV anchor money in this market. And I only know one guy who is making that anymore.

I wish her luck, the bush league on air complaing about the way things are going
is very chezzy. "Feel sorry for me I'm only making a million dollars"

Good luck Sarah...I'll bet No Name is holding his breath.

Totally agree. That tactic is cliche'. I don't know Sarah, but when I've heard her on-air, it sounds like she may have an inflated ego which could drive that type of schtick.

Even though Don Bleu works for CC, I have to believe he's in the 7 figure range. No?
I have good word that guys like Jeff/Jer in San Diego are in the 2 Million range each - and that's a significantly smaller market than SF.
