If so, then I'd like to mention that they should bring their "StarRadio" format here. It's kind of a classic/adult hits hybrid that they are running on a couple of their stations in upstate NY. I would say it's a pop-based version of Jack. They obviously can't use the "StarRadio" name here but they can easily think of something else to call it.
 
This morning "The River" posted on their fb page that this is their last day broadcasting. I'm sure that includes 104.9. Tomorrow should be the beginning. Not sure if that means they are going into stunt mode or what?
 
Thanks for the heads up. I was hoping to record some of the old formats before they went off. 104.9 is jockless with regular format right now. I assume its the same story at 106.1 now. It's a bit sad to see those Facebook posts with pictures of the smiling faces of those who are now unemployed.
 
104.9 is stunting now. No announcements, just segued '60s-'80s hits right now.

I've been listening to 104.9 all morning. The stream cut out at 9am. I flipped over to the air signal which continued for another hour. The last song played on the regular Good Time 104.9 format was "A Beautiful Morning" by The Rascals cut off in mid song. The last full song heard was "Thunder Island" by Jay Ferguson.
 
I'm guessing no Casey tomorrow morning.

They must be simply going to focus on the la Follette & southeast KY rural area w/ 104.9 instead of Knox. The format makes zero sense as a Knox station with both 95.7 & 96.7 doing some form of classic country on better signals. Idk, whoever owns Loud, must just have a lot of money & operate the stations as a hobby. Seems like most of their formats make little sense in the markets they’re in. (Classic hip hop in very non ethnic markets, that obscure Mid Century format that demographically could only appeal to 75-80+ year olds, etc).
 
I would’ve thought they’d pair 104.9 with the 105.1 translator as well to try & cobble together a Knoxville focused format. (Considering their dial position, it would obviously make sense. Or if they could get Horne to sell or lease them 105.3, a trimulcast on 104.9/105.1/105.3 would also make a lot of sense both signalwise & geographically).
 
Loud Media seems to specialize in a handful of formats: Classic Country, Classic Hip Hop, Classic/Adult Hits, and Active Rock. Find a frequency, plug it in, and play. If you don't like it, wait a few months. This company does format changes more frequently than I have ever seen from anyone else.

I knew they would plug in Classic Country at 104.9 given the signal. It's not the most horrible idea. It's strong in all the areas where 95.7 is weak and vice versa. I think 96.7 is the redundant one.
 
I can remember when 104.9 flipped from Country, saying they were going to be the only oldies station as opposed to the 15th country station. Classic hip hop? Doesn't WJBE more or less have that covered, except for some breaks for talk shows? So translator vs translator.I get some of the geeks on this board loving the obscure Mid-Century format, but sorry, it doesn't do it for me.
 
Yeah, I agree on 96.7. I’ve always thought it was a pretty decent class A signal for Knox proper, that is basically wasted trying to do battle with the glut of other country signals on stronger frequencies. But they seem dedicated to the format for some reason.
Now to see if Loud does classic hip hop/classic rhythmic on 97.1. Probably doesn’t make a lot of sense in Knox demographically, but that’s not stopped them in Burlington & Ft Collins where it equally makes little sense. I’d kinda enjoy it personally though. Probably the biggest hole would be a soft AC/easy format lighter than 97.5. I’d also personally love to see alternative or a better Triple A station than 105.3, but don’t hold out much hope on those. (Not really a fan of that super hard active rock format on VLZ).
 
I thought 104.9 would make a decent place for the Star radio format they do. Of course with a different name. I do hate seeing another country format but it kind of does makes sense in the area it's broadcasting from. As for 105.1, if they are keeping the oldies format, they should be what 104.9 was doing. Not this weird geek oldies format.
 
The 105.1 translator has been on with just dead air the past two days now. So maybe something new is coming there as well.
 
Their online stream is also down and the same recently played songs have been on the website for a few days. I sense something might be happening there.
