Saratoga Broadcasting to Acquire WJRV, WTNQ/Eastern TN

Merle should have jumped on the 80s-90s Country bandwagon before Midwest got a chance to launch Duke, which is their signature format. Now it's left with whatever niche Loyd Ford can cobble out, somewhere between Duke and WIVK.

Loud Media seems to specialize in a handful of formats: Classic Country, Classic Hip Hop, Classic/Adult Hits, and Active Rock. Find a frequency, plug it in, and play. If you don't like it, wait a few months. This company does format changes more frequently than I have ever seen from anyone else.

I knew they would plug in Classic Country at 104.9 given the signal. It's not the most horrible idea. It's strong in all the areas where 95.7 is weak and vice versa. I think 96.7 is the redundant one.

I think Merle kinda sounds like a Nash Icon station. I enjoy the new Merle much better than the old one. Not meaning to get off topic. 104.9 is definitely closer to 95.7 in my opinion. Also in 104.9 particlar broadcast area, don't they also have 95.9/99.5/101.1 to deal with?

If I were Ron Meredith I would be calling the one person who has the number of the guy who can turn Ron's wreck into a check. Johnny Pirkle. Convince Johnny to have one of his sons go over to Clinton and fix Merle. It's probably the easiest decision Ron would ever have to make.

Leave Merle alone and take WTNQ back to oldies. Problem solved. We have too many Classic Country FM signals which broadcast about the same era of content. How about one of these doing different era Classic Country. say go back in time pre 1980's.

A couple of years ago there was a great classic country format on WKVL. The music was so old that the '80s would have seemed new. I remember hearing a song called "You Can't Have Your Kate and Edith Too." Where else are you gonna hear stuff like that on the radio? Unfortunately when WKVL went sports and the country format went to WGAP, they went to a more typical '80s/'90s mix.

This morning WKVL/ WGAP started simulcasting. I wonder if they are about to end the sports format or this is just temporary. I know there isn't much going on in the sports world right now. Another theory is that WGAP may be about to move to 100.9 because 105.9 has a pretty big list of complaints for interface to 106.1 VLZ.
