Sassy 107.1

Love hearing Jackie Selby on Martini. Too bad they couldn't put her on double duty for sister station Sassy. She's upbeat and not as bitter sounding.

Even though they have yet to register a blip with Arbitron, Sassy is already being taken to task regarding their "man bashing". Below is a letter from the the Denver Post from 6/24:

I am thrilled with the selection of music played on the new Sassy 107.1-FM. The format is very refreshing. However, I cannot understand why the station and its management insist on bashing men all day.

[EDIT=see Denver Post]

This station is a joke to begin with. I mean the only thing that probably keeps people tuning in from time-to-time is the hopes that they would turn Urban. But the owner is too out-of-tune with what people really want to hear. I bet he’s just hoping to sell the station for a profit.

You'd LOVE to see that because that's undoubtedly the format that you (As someone who probably doesn't even live in Denver to begin with!) would prefer. But REALITY says that 107.1 _WILL GET KILLED_ by KS-107.5 and 95.7

THAT IS A FACT.

THAT is why Sassy has the format they do and it's also the reason why they target a much older audience. Not only that, but it also gives KOOL 105 some good competition (No, I really don't consider KEZW much of a competitor for KOOL 105 anymore since its on AM and is rapidly losing its babyboomer audience).

I just hate it when people who probably don't even live in Denver post about Denver Radio (or Denver TV for that matter) without AT LEAST some factual knowledge of the market and post stuff that those of who
*DO*[/I] live in Denver and listen to Denver Radio (And watch Denver TV) know would prove to be DISASTEROUS. It's frustrating to see indeed. :(

Just my blunt opinion...

Cheers :)

Oooh yaaah baby. Yah know it!!

You are 100% correct: if 107 went Hip Hop, it would be DISASTROUS.
You are 100% correct: if 107 went Hurban, it would be DISASTROUS.

What other urban format could 107 explore that other major cities have, which Denver is the only populous city over 2 million, doesn’t have? Huummm, I wonder???

107 has this format because the owner is afraid to be different and experience success. I mean, 107 has probably the most talented Black air talent Denver has ever seen and they have her spinning weak, lamo crap!!

And what in the world made you assume I was not from Denver. Perhaps my out-of-the-box thinking? Well, for what it’s worth, I do stream stations from major cities. Is this what you ment??

Geeez dude, sorry to frustrate you. Hope you feel better

Be cool -- like me 8)
