Satirical Comment About Harry Potter And Radio

Is this what radio needs? Satellite, internet, ipod and now Harry Potter. The few young people who were still tuned into a radio station will be turning their radios off and picking up a Harry Potter book. If they read with the radio on, they will not be paying attention to the spots or anything else while they are reading Harry Potter.

And if that is not bad enough, some Harry Potter movie may come out soon and they will not take their walkman into the theater, because they will be watching the movie. Radio loses again.

Radio did not need this. It could not come at a worse time.

When I was younger, I always had the radio on when I was reading and didn't pay attention to the book. In fact I still do now. Maybe the end isn't nigh for radio ;-)<P ID="signature">______________

Damn this reading thing! It's all because of the damn educational system. If a bunch of do-gooders would stop insisting that we pour money into so-called "basic skills" like reading, writing, and "new math", we wouldn't have people reading instead of consuming electronic media.

At least there are some infiltrators who have inserted calculators, "whole-word recognition", "content is more important than form", and "social promotion" into the educational system to ensure that a large number of students gain only rudimentary skills, which means they'll rely in ever-larger numbers on electronic media for their news and opinion. That, combined with control of the electronic media by large corporations should allow the select few to control the opinions of the many.

Now, if they can only infiltrate that damn Internet...

On a related note . . .

They could always read it on the radio (well, if they have SCA capabilities). Anyone know of any reading services that are reading the new Potter already?
