Great news for KTAR-FM! I always like seeing more live and local shows on Phoenix area radio. Having live and local shows is really what differentiates local radio stations from other media platforms.

It's funny, though, that KTAR claims, from the above press release, that they are committed to developing new and local content. The article quotes Ryan Hatch, Bonneville Phoenix Vice President of News and Sports Content, as saying, "At KTAR, we see the world differently and believe strongly that weekends provide the perfect opportunity to develop new, engaging local content for our audiences regardless of expense." If this statement were true, why is it that KTAR is taking away local talent on their AM Sports station? There is no more live and local mornings on KTAR-AM and all indications point to KTAR wanting to dump the rest of the local talent for syndicated ESPN shows. Also, if they love local talent so much, why have six hours of Dave Ramsey weekday evenings? Something live and local needs to be on KTAR-FM weekday evenings from 7:00 P.M. to 10:00 P.M.

Overall, I just think that the people at KTAR are contradicting themselves with this press release by saying they will hire live and local talent "regardless of expense" when their dumping local talent on Arizona Sports 620. I guess this hiring of live and local talent "regardless of expense" only goes so far! ;D

"Only goes so far" is correctamundo as pouring big bucks into Ancient Modulation doesn't make a lot of sense. They could run an EAS test in AMD and probably get the same ratings! Beefing up KT'R-FM's weekend lineup is smart money as it has been pretty much the same stuff since they were on 6~Twenty. And yes, listening to Dave Ramsey 7 days a week is cruel and unusual punishment. At this point, Nurse Jeff and I'd be happy with a Satellite Sisters re-run :p

They move Data Doctors later in the day? If they want to make a dent in the Kim Carbonite show, get Leo Laporte.

Data Doctors is so terrible since they went syndicated, removed live interaction and tried to make it a lame laugh fest. Really, do we need a joke every 30 seconds? zzzzzz

Legend, not that I like Data Doctors, or even KTAR, for that matter, but yes, I DO think you need a laugh fest. Even if only a lame one. You are listening to too much NPR and BBC and are losing your sense of humor. Those people are just the other end of the spectrum from the NBO and Broomie. Britain is in as big a mess as we are and the BBC announcers sound like they are gargling with marbles. NPR is barely distinguishable from the SNL Molly Shannon skit.

Legend nailed it on the head, the show is terrible. When they were live they appealed to the older crowd who knows little about computers and took calls now they're talking to a demographic who doesn't listen. I agree they should replace DD with Twit, that would be like going from vista to a mac.
