Saturday Night Dance Fever at the Iron Cactus

It's back. Same time and on a different frequency.

KKMJ is dropping Delilah on Saturday nights, in favor of 70's and 80's music live from the Iron Cactus North at Stonelake in the Arboretum. Heard the announcement around 4:40 pm Thursday Afternoon. From 9 PM to 1 AM. I wonder who will DJ? Roxanne Wilson? Jay Fox? Stephen Micheal Kerr?

Maybe Delilah will dropped in favor of Tom Kent on the Weekdays?

Or just maybe KKMJ will flip to Classic Hits, and KAMX will play all the AC hits.

Please KKMJ do your Super Songs of the 70's weekend again!!! I miss it.

Entercom is not going to flip formats on their top rated station. But they might consider a music format for 1370 since it now has an FM translator simulcast on 96.3.

I was also talking about moving their current AC product to 94.7 I know 95.5 is their top rated station and the fact that HD-2 has their Oldies format. I hope they do decide to consider a music format for 1370. It is harder to receive in Northwest Austin, but it would sure beat nothing (depending on the format they choose) I wonder why they decided to do that on KKMJ? To me that hints on them following the path of KOOI Sunny 106 who also at one time had Delilah on the weekends and was AC.

Doing anything to your top-rated station is stupid. Such moves have rarely been successful.

Besides, Mix is still doing roughly a 4 share, and it's almost all 25-54 women. Even though it's about 2/3 of Majic's ratings, it should still be a license to print money. Classic hits couldn't do that.

Well, if nothing else, it's finally a reason to listen to 95.5. Even if you're not in the target demographic! ;D

It's something now to listen too I will off cassette tapes and back to listening to FM radio on Saturday nights!!!! My Scotch XS-II Cro2 cassette is already getting some audio dropouts. :)

I just hope it is a wider selection just like it was when Jay Fox was DJ'ing back in 2011 at the Iron Cactus North, and hopefully they will use vinyl again!!! I haven't really listened to 95.5 ever since they nixed the 70's weekend I only occasionally flip through the dial. Of course on the weekdays I like listening to 99.7 for my Todd and Don show, and Rush fix.

During it's final days Classic Hits KXBT hit the 4.0 mark. It's also 25-54, too.
I thought KAMX was at a 3 something share, behind KGSR.

I was under the impression KXBT skewed old. However, it's not the same situation regardless of ratings. A non-commercial entity bought it and had a different mission. If UT had bought KASE, even it would've been flipped!

Maybe it's next week?

I hope so, I saw a banner ad on majiic.com and heard something like "Join Majic 95.5 at the Iron Cactus North from 9 pm to 1 am." during a commercial break. I tuned in around 10:50 pm and Delilah was on.
