Saturday night "dance" party on Magic 98.3

nd2023

It's official. First show was last night. No more all-80s on Saturday nights anymore. It sounded like something completely out of its format. I heard a lot of 90s pop, something that wouldn't get played on Magic normally. I was expecting to hear all disco (like Studio 108 on WEBE 108 in CT, which was coming in nicely on tropo last night).
I wish that Magic would still play 50s-70s oldies on Saturday nights like it used to 6 years ago.
The crap that Magic calls "dance" is even worse than what KT-who calls "dance"! Magic won't be taking any listeners away from Pulse 87 with this show.
Just keep playing your continuous soft rock :)

I'm sure that's exactly what they were trying to do.

Why can't they do something that NO ONE else on the Jersey/NYC dial does on a Saturday night? WLTW already has a Saturday Night Dance Party. 'PLJ has an all-'80's Saturday night, I believe. So, they were doing the same thing that 'PLJ was doing, and now they're doing the same thing that WLTW does on Saturday nights. Go figure. I didn't catch it to know if it's exactly the same, but do the "dance" shows on WLTW and WMGQ sound alike? Is Matt Newman still the host?

That's why I listen to 101.5 on Saturday nights. They are one of the few stations that doesn't have some specialty show on --- just their regular music. Fresh is also another station which just sticks to its regular playlist on Saturday nights.

I like the Breeze's Saturday Night Dance Party. At least they do it live and local from establishments on the shore.

They used to do something unique...Saturday Night Magic Memories with Flo Hansen. It was very popular in the 90s/early 2000s with music from the 50s-70s. Anyone else remember that show?

That show turned me on to oldies and is a big part of the reason I grew to love CBS-FM in the late '90's through today (minus the whole Jack thing).

I loved Saturday Night Magic Memories, and Flo was a great hostess. That show was back in the days when Magic was a great station. I used to listen to Magic before CBS-FM, but after they scrapped "Today's Hits and Yesterday's Favorites" and that great JAM 'Digital Mix' jingle package (light years better than the Reelworld stuff they currently use) for "Continuous Soft Rock," cutting specialty weekends and Saturday Night Magic Memories in the process; I still return to Magic on occasion, but not even close to the amount of time I spent listening to it in the '90's.

I believe before the show was cancelled altogether, Tim Tefft took the helm, and by that time, I changed to Cousin Brucie's Saturday Night show. It wasn't the same without Flo.

Thanks for bringing back some "Magic Memories!"
